Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I was browsing the Varese site and noticed DX versions of both The Omen *and* The Final Conflict are in the works. Guys, this is awesome news! I'm excited about having great sounding, expanded discs of these two scores... and to finally have Final Conflict remastered and playable in it's full glory, wow - I get extremely excited just thinking about it. Incredibly enough, these two new releases are both due out October 9th. That'll be a great day.

Again, sorry if this is a repeat of already circulated news. It's new-news to me (well, Bri told me about Omen DX, but not about Final Conflict -shame on you Bri)! Regardless, this is spectacular. Fantastic. Thanks Bob Townson. Keep feeding us Goldsmith nuts!! We've got a huge appetite.

NP- Baby Boy by David Arnold... great, fun, gritty r&b score. Way-to-go David! Jack Nordheden, I think you'd like this...

Once again the search engine sits gathering dust:

#1, I don't ever use the search engine. It was never that important of a feature to me. Let's forget the fact I haven't been browsing the boards religiously... so I guess there are some threads that slip through my fingers. Sorry.

#2, I suspected this may have been mentioned, and well Dan, bravo, you've gone and proven that suspicion correct.

Unusually late there Jeron , your right, this subject has already been talked out!

The Omen won't be doing nothing for me, I played this to a death years ago! Final Conflict on the other hand is a more than welcome release, by far the best of the omen scores this original release had abominable sound, the new release really is something that I look forward to. Incidently I would NEVER have picked up the original CD to this if I hadn't gotten it so cheap (£2), I would have still been vaguely happy with the LP release I have.

    Hi,

I don't have any of the Omen scores so these will be a welcome addition to my growing collection of scores. I think it sounds like they're going to be very promising deluxe editions.

    Best Regards to the board,
    Dylan

Actually Bri, The Final Conflict isn't scary... it's more of a dark, majestic score w/ some wonderfully fanfarish moments. I've even sometimes thought of it as a menacing precursor to First Knight. In all liklihood, I'm sure you'd really enjoy it. Because you're a scaredy cat, I won't recommend The Omen... but I will demand that you pick up Final Conflict. It's a must have.

I just ordered the old Varese Final Conflict. Now I going to have to send it back and wait for the new version. I guess I'll try to sell my old copy of "The Omen".

Crono/Kyp, I have listen to "The Omen" a number of times and it still scare the hell out of me! It is no doubt Goldsmith's best horror score!

Agreed. The first two are horror scores. Final Conflict is a fantasy score.

Brian, if you are too scared to listen to The Omen, don't even bother reading Goblet of Fire!

And Omen isn't even his scariest score. There's Alien for example. And what happens if you listen to Mephisto Waltz - do you drop dead of terror?

Then you can listen to Omen, too. It's not nearly as scary as Goblet.
