I'm leaving for about a week in order to visit my family in New York, on my way out I got a little question. If listening to film music was illegal, and punishable by 10 years in prison if you were caught listening to it, or with any cds, would you violate the law and still collect and listen to soundtrack scores? How much love do you have for this type of artistic music?

As for me....yes...I would take the chance and continue listenign to film music, because it has become part of my life. In fact, i has become part of me.

See ya all in 8 days....

    Scotty

Scott, I'd be in there with you in the illegal hideout with posters of Che (music by Lalo Schifrin).

Crap, does that mean I have to share a cell with Andre?

I wonder if that meant that only criminals listened to film music, and then composers would be outlaws, and there'd be a black market for soundtracks, and buying a soundtrack would be 2-3 years, and buying a bootleg would put you on death row....

The film music distribution situation here in Finland is so bad, that every time I just step into a music store thinking to do some inquiries, I feel doing something BAD. And if this situation continues, I'll probably do something very illegal, like strangling the entire music store crew who sell soundtracks but don't know anything about them.

Maybe film music itself CAUSES one to do illegal things...

No, because they would put the people with good taste on special cells, while the others who like Zimmer, Horner, Elfman, etc, would be thrown in the dungeon.

Yep, the black straight jacket and the white padded cell would be it. All the way, throw us in. John.

Does that count if you like any of their scores. I mean, Instinct is pretty damn good for example... And I dislike most Zimmer & Horner, but wouldn't really want to have to go all the way to the dungeon to listen to Krull or Thin Red Line...

Either way, I guess I'm in the cells...

Yes, because you have good taste, you will be able to share a cell with me and the other few.

    "Soundtrack speakeasies"? Okay, I'm in.

As for the punishment, "They may take our music, but they'll never take OUR FREEDOM!!!!"

    It had to be said.
