Has anyone seen the film/heard the music?

Any first impression anyone would like to share? I will probably not get to the theatres to see the movie, but I am curious if the score is worth picking up now.

    Thanks.

I didn't like the score much personally... It's pacing was awful and it sounded a bit to generic for my likings... The film itself has been getting pretty bad reviews, but I dunno... I'll probably be waiting for video

Quill, love the rating on the NP there. D'oh.

It doesn't help for Nicolas Cage (in the worst casting role of the year) to say he hates the mandolin in his press junkets, especially if the filmmakers (Cage included) earnestly want to drum up some excitement for this film.

When I first heard the score, one thing immediately came to mind: the best score for the worst film of the year has arrived.

If you like Warbeck's music, this is another good score, although it might be a little long in the running time department. Lots of this music is lush, but it really doesn't go anywhere. The main theme is great, but the lack of enthusiasm for the film (and my disgust with Cage's phoney accent) has seriously hampered my listening enjoyment. The La Scala songs attempt to break up the flowing lushness, but these tend to be more irritating than anything else.

All in all, though, Warbeck's music is without complexity; it's just... "nice." If the film included nothing but the beautiful shots of Italy (John Toll does it again) and Warbeck's music, we'd have a big hit.

I read a solid review on soundtrack.net (if I remember correctly) on this score.

Are you calling Big Bear a loser for writing a "solid" review of this score, or for writing it for SoundtrackNet?
