"Hello?" [as the sound echoes in an empty room]I've got one...
While listening to A.I. today, the comments on the inside cover from Spielberg state that this is his 17th collaboration with Williams.
Now, we all know how much these two work together, and how there's a Burton/Elfman and a Hitchcock/Herrmann history of collaboration.
Has any other director/composer worked together as much as Spielberg/Williams? And what are the totals?
Let's see what we can come up with.

You suck...
That is actually pretty interesting. Spielberg and Williams do have a long history with each other. I would also like to know who holds the record for collaboration.

There we go... now we can stop yelling at each other about things that don't have anything to do with music and return to yelling at each other about the actual music. Ahhhh... it is nice to be back.Hans Zimmer does not suck.

Why doesn't he suck? Well, I guess technically he could suck. But I don't think that he sucks. I like his music. It is hard to say why. I like the tempo of many of his scores, I like the electronic elements, I like his choices of music as it pertains to what is occuring in the movie. I like the energy that his scores have. Why do you think he sucks?

Depends on what kind of Football you are talking about. If it's that crap you call soccer then yes it sucks.
All that running and kicking and all you get is the usual 1-1, 0-0, or 1-0 scores, jeez.....

Second that Jeron, gotta love "Rudy"
On a similar subject, I woke up early today at a friends house (with a slight hangover, mind you), flipped on the TV, and it was on HBO or Showtime or one of those channels. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out to use the remote and it was clearly obvious i wasn't going to get my ass to the tv to change the channel. So there I lay, watching "The Air Up There" with Kevin Bacon. I usually like David Newman, but this sports/african score sounded pretty cheap and generic. Perhaps the banging percussion in my head didn't help though...

By the way...As I'm listening to "Dances With Wolves" right now I can't help but remember... remember 8 or 9 years ago...
I played the game for hours. Perhaps the best ever created for the SNES, yes, I'm talking about Zelda: A Link to the Past. But why I bring this up is Dances With Wolves was composed in what, 90? For those of you who have played the game, do you notice any striking similarities? I remember the village theme, it was almost identicle to the John Dunbar theme... Anyway rambling must stop.

Oh yeah? Then how about that game where Australia beat Canada 17 to 0?
And why the heck is American Football called "football" by Americans and Canadians? They only seem to kick the ball once or twice in the whole game. The rest of the game is shoving, pushing, running, carrying, and so on. Shouldn't it be called breaktheguycarryingtheball-ball?
At least in world football those players kick the damn ball. Hence the explanation of the term football.
Oh, yeah and (european/world) football is great. It just depends on what teams are playing.

I am not a big fan of soccer myself, but I agree it's far better than baseball, for instance. What kind of game is that? One guy holding a stick trying to hit a little ball while a bunch of bozos stay around doing absolutely nothing??
Them, ocasionally someone hits the ball and all the bozos start to run in circles!! Hahahahaha... what a joke!
I once tried to watch a baseball game on TV but fell asleep after ten minutes!
A chess game is more exciting... by far.

Football I like, too. Nothing beats the electricity of a big college game (except maybe baseball).
to stay on topic, I watched John Williams on "Evening at the Pops" tonight. Had Yo-Yo Ma and a big suite from Angela's Ashes.awesome stuff.

'Soccer' is THE world game, but something the Americans just haven't caught onto.Like Andre I'm not a massive fan myself but who can fail to be entranced by the World Cup, It's just a shame that while Andre can bask in the glory of his contry's brilliance I have to make do with a sorry ass English side

Also agree Andre that both Baseball/Football movies are a total turnoff 'yeuckkk!'

There's a soccer movie directed by John Huston, starring Pelé, Michael Caine and Sylvester Stallone (who was forced to be the goalkeeper, since he just can't play ball like most USA natives).I think it's called ESCAPE FROM VICTORY or something like that.
Don't remember who did the score...

in fact, most Americans grow up playing the game of soccer. I played till I was about 12.they just come to their senses and take up other sports like baseball (and golf) that challenge the mind. Mind you, I wouldn't call baseball players exceptional athletes or anything. but what a great game.
Baseball dates back to at least the pre-Civil War period, and no one really knows the true origins of it. The National League dates back to at least 1876. It's simply a part of American history.
soccer pales in comparison.

Well, just because the game is old it doesn't mean it's good. And what's smart about a guy with a cap trying to hit a little ball while all the other players do nothing at all?
As for being part of the american history, well I, as an american, must correct you: it may be part of the USA history.
And lets not forget that baseball is popular only among USA and Japan natives, while soccer... well, you know... just try to remember who's the Athlete of the Century...

André Lux, not much of a soccer fan.
