I have no doubt it will focus mostly on Hans Zimmer and/or James Horner.

An extensive show on Hollywood film composers including Danny Elfman and Ennio Morricone. A special section focusing on Elmer Bernstein's 50 year anniversary of film scoring. Also a section on young composers and "film scoring school". The show airs this Sunday at 3:30pm EST on CNN (Cable News Network) and details will be available here http://www.cnn.com/WorldBeat/

There is also a nice article on violinist Joshua Bell who's work garnered an Academy Award for composer John Corigliano and his score for THE RED VIOLIN. http://www.cnn.com/2001/WorldBeat/05/18/joshua.bell/index.html

Just saw it. They interviewed Danny Elfman on his works and some focus on Planet of the Apes.

Also Bernstein on his Magnificent Seven, and how he got involved in comedy scores in the 80s.

Not a bad Show. That young Female composer Paola Prestini at Soundtrack School what a "Bellisma Ragazza" (Beautiful Girl). She can Score any of my films anytime. At first I thought that young Middle Eastern composer was Marco Beltrami. I think Elfman just must of had a Bad Neon Zit on his head and didn't want it to Pop on camera. I wonder why Elfman doesn't conduct any of his scores? Morricone is a Class Act as always. Gotta rent that MALENA film. What a babe. Amazing how much young Bernstein looked like young Goldsmith in the 60's. They both looked like Dennis the Menace's Father on the old Series. I guess it's the haircut. I recorded the show so if anyone's interested I'd trade a Vhs copy of it for 2 CDR's of something I'm looking for. Send your trade lists. Happy listening Friends, Piero out.

    Because he's not a conductor.

Many composers don't conduct their own scores. It's a skill unto itself, and not a requirement for film composition.

An arranger is something like an orchestrator. I have no idea what's the exact difference between the two though. Usually, it's called "orchestrating" for orchestral music and "arranging" for smaller ensembles I believe, but when someone re-works an existing orchestral piece, it's called "arranging" as well...

Well, that would have been 3:30 eastern.... depends on your timezone.

Also, if you got Headline News, I think you turned to the wrong CNN channel.
