This is www.moviemusic.com. Where we WILL talk about movie music. ONLY movie music. Do we feel proud of ourselves that we are making poor inoccent individuals leave these boards becaus they don't feel like scanning through the **** posted here just to find the rare topics based on movie music. Many of us should be ashamed of what we have started. And many of us owe an appology to PeterK. We have abused our privilages to his site by creating abusive, insulting, and inapropriate posts that have no right to be here. SHAME ON US! So either A) Start acting a little more mature and not try to insault eachother like little 5 year old brats, or B) Get the hell out of here. Welcome to the new movie music. Where we WILL talk about just that unless it's polite and a friendship type thing.Clayton

This board is what it is. Plain and simple. A little bit o this, a little bit o that. If controlling the content of the board is your ambition, well good luck to ya because that ain't happening any time soon.Maybe you should have skipped this stuff and just started posting about film scores again, eh? All I can see here are the beginnings of another of your reviled "non film music" posts. And you have no one to blame for it but yourself.

Old, young, doesn't matter. At least I know that I am still more mature than you, more greatful, and a hell of a lot smarter then you. Lets face it, if you find yourself picking on a kid in gradeschool, you'd have to be pretty pathetic. Which you obviously are, Big Bear.Clayton

Oh, no! Just what we need: another off-topic post, that has nothing to do with film music - which is the main purpose of this board!!!

Jeron,I think Clay is to be commended to the effort. Some things, especially the ones engulfed in truth and honesty, never get old. Funny, how some get away with every crapp that comes out of their mind and someone trying to make things better gets the "let me talk to you folly ole' kid" treatment. I dunno...just trying to make a point.

I dunno...just trying to make a point.Scott, bro, I don't mind Clay standing up for himself. I'm not even disputing the truth or honesty of his posts. The original intent of this thread was great. It was one of his later posts that struck a chord. I just feel like he uses the "I'm a kid, don't beat me up" line a little too much. I'm going to treat him like an adult. That's how he demands to be treated. There's just one stipulation: If that's how he wants it, he'd better act the part. Reminding us he's a "kid who shouldn't be picked on" doesn't play very convincingly into his desire for adult-like treatment. I have no problem carrying on with him as an equal (because he is equal, after all). All I ask for is a little consistency here. He needs to make up his mind. Is he a 15 year old who doesn't like to be picked on, or is he a 15 year old who demands the respect of others and wants to be treated equally? There's a difference. I have a feeling he'd go with the latter option, but if so, he's gotta stop using that oh-so-old line. Once your considered an adult, you've gotta learn to effectively deal with the inevitable amount of flak you're going to get, just as a result of diversity and differing opinions. That calls for mature responses and civil behavior.
On the other hand, I may be way out of line here. I think Clay's a great guy, I enjoy his contributions - I only make these observations and offer these suggestions because I care about him and want to see him grow as a member of this community.
Clay, I apologize, I'll stop contributing to this discussion if that's what you'd prefer.

Scott, bro, I don't mind Clay standing up for himself.Actually, Jeron, Clay stood up for the board...
I just feel like he uses the "I'm a kid, don't beat me up" line a little too much. I'm going to treat him like an adult. That's how he demands to be treated.
According to whom does he use the phrase too mcuh? All I read was that if you use to like to beat up, or bully, kids and you still do then you are pathetic...not a bad and untrue statement. Sometimes, you have to beat certain people over the head with the same information until they get, Lord knows I had to several times. If Clay was 76 years old, would you have responded the same way? And don't give me the "A 76 year old wouldn't have repeated the same thing over and over again, cause meet my Grandfather buddy, and you'll get a whole new feeling for repetition". You seem to compare Clay to you too many times. You seem to get lost in the notion that people develop differently, that they do not behave, communictate in the same manner you do. In the finaly anylisis, it doesn't matter how Clay wants to get treated by how he should get treated. Sure, he has a temper. Sure, he goes overboard...but my oh my, what about some other, "more mature", memebers here?
There's just one stipulation: If that's how he wants it, he'd better act the part.
[i]See, that's where I have a big problem now, with that statement. Act the part according to whom? The members of this board? You? Me? I'm a 36 year old male who happens to look a little younger, who loves to kid around, who is bounded by a different covenant than others due to his faith...and who gets flack for it all the time. Because I am a certain age, because I am a certain gender I am supposed to like and do what most my age like and do. Well, one reason I love this country so much is that I can disregard that norrow mindness a lot quicker and more effectevly than in other countries I have been through, besides, according to such a statement, we all woudn't be here, because we are not supposed to like film music, since most people don't
All I ask for is a little consistency here. He needs to make up his mind. Is he a 15 year old who doesn't like to be picked on, or is he a 15 year old who demands the respect of others and wants to be treated equally?
Growing up is not a matter of choice. It's a matter of development. Some get diaper trained much sooner than others. Some learn to walk a lot earlier than others. I doubt Clay woke up one morning saying "Today I am an adult" Besides, I don't think he really wants to be treated like an adult, but wants to be treated as a human being.
Once your considered an adult, you've gotta learn to effectively deal with the inevitable amount of flak you're going to get, just as a result of diversity and differing opinions. That calls for mature responses and civil behavior.
Now that is a statement some of us on this board seem to need more than just Clay.
On the other hand, I may be way out of line here. I think Clay's a great guy, I enjoy his contributions - I only make these observations and offer these suggestions because I care about him and want to see him grow as a member of this community.
And I believe you, but why do you insist on communicating this openly over this board? You know him on AIM, I think that would be a much better avenue. Some things deserve to be talked about in private. This here response of mine, I should have initated over AIM or the phone, but I wanted to make a point. All you really accomplished here Jeron I am afraid is make Clay believe you don't really like him (I may be wrong here) and fuel others here to really come down on him, after all if Jeron does it, it must be ok.
Clay, I apologize, I'll stop contributing to this discussion if that's what you'd prefer.
[i]Jeron, you are an integral part of this board, you have been here from the beginning and you are my very close friend, who I would die for in a second. It is members as yourself, that continue to flavor this board with the kind of positiveness that it deserves to have and you are much respected and apreciated for it, at least by most of us. I am sure Clay is quite honored for any input you would have in any of his posts, I know I am.[i/]
I am done whith this. I will talk to you and Clayton about this over AIM, a much better avenue I suppose.Musical suggestion: This whole conversation could be underscored by the first theme on the "The Thin Red Line" cd.

Scott, we've had this same exact discussion 100 times in the past... we always come to the same stand-still. Ultimately, I guess we've all got things to work on. Isn't that a revelation? Anyway, what you had to say makes sense (as always). I think that somewhere in there my point was confused and misinterpreted to smithereens, but oh well. That's that. 'Nuff said.Jeron

Guys, come on. What happened was simple:Clayton wrote something that I felt a little insulted and angered by, so I threw a criticism and insult back at him.
Then I calmed down and apologized.
Then he apologized.
Close book, end of story.

scoreguy16Well, it's been two days since you created this latest off-topic thread, scorebaby (one of only 6 off-topic threads out of the 40 most recently responded-to threads at this message board), and thankfully nothing has changed.....I hope you've recovered from the childish little tantrum you had when you created this thread, lets hope mommy's put teddy back in your pram now......
Indeed, every one of the current off-topic threads at this message board have been created to discuss the subject of off-topic posting. In fact, during the past fortnight, there has only been one truly original 'off-topic' posting, and that was Justin Boggan's homophobic 'note from Londen' (sic) thread. If that particular thread had not been deleted, then there would probably be only one current off-topic thread at this message board today, ie the 'note from Londen' thread (and the discussion at the 'note from Londen' thread would probably have died out several days ago if the thread had been allowed to evolve naturally).
Owing to you prejudice against off-topic posting, the first thing I will say is you should be criticising PeterK for not removing the offensive off-topic 'note from Londen' thread when it first appeared. Secondly, since Peter (and you for that matter) did not raise any objections to the thread when it was instigated (even though it was steeped in offensive sentiment), don't you think it's rather bizarre to close the thread down a week later (especially when everyone contributing to that thread was attempting to rebut Justin's anti-gay stance).
All of the subsequent off-topic threads that you seem to take exception to have been created as a result of Peter locking the 'note from Londen' thread when it had garnered in excess of 30 responses.
This begs the questions, 'why didn't Peter lock the thread when it first appeared', and 'why didn't you raise any objections to that thread when it first appeared.'
You, Peter and any other board member seeking to stifle freedom of expression at this message board had your opportunity to complain about and then remove the 'note from Londen' thread when it first appeared (in all its offensive glory).....you all missed the opportunity to complain about and remove the thread when nobody (except the thread's originator perhaps) would have had cause for complaint. When the thread was eventually closed, it was too late, and small wonder that many of us who contributed to the 'note from Londen' thread were disappointed enough to create additional threads to register our surprise. You see, it has become quite clear that the closure of the various off-topic threads created at this message board during the past week or so is dependant almost solely on the personal prejudice and bias of the message board moderator. As such, Peter's judgement when it comes to message board censorship seems to be as woefully inadequate as your own, scoreguy.
At the end of the day, because you didn't complain about the 'note from Londen' thread when it first appeared, you've got nobody to blame for the current plethora of off-topic discussion but yourself, PeterK, and the rest of your motley band of sheepish, small-minded and outmoded pro-censorship hypocrites.........
