Just thought I'd mention that tomorrow night (Friday) Mike's Murder is on channel 5, haven't seen this for a long time but as I remember it's only an average film but does have a nice score by John Barry!

I'm surprised that Silva has never recorded any of this on one of there 3 JB volumes?!

Thats a coincidence Timmer, cos I'd already programmed it to come on through SKY at 1:15 (only cos' I've got the hots for Debra Winger ) I'm a bit confused about the soundtrack. I'm sure the music is by Joe Jackson or is it just the songs? I'll dig out the score and have a look!! BRB Gae

Well it took a while, but I managed to find my copy of the score to "Mike's Murder" on A&M records and it is original music by Joe Jackson...no mention of Barry anywhere! I'll watch the movie later and find out for certain. Gae

It's on the goggle box now and so far there have been a couple of very atmospheric Barry cues. I think this was a case of some of his music being replaced, rather like his experience on Howard The Duck.

I watched some of the film before falling asleep and yes, the score was by Barry after all...foolish of me to doubt your film music knowledge Timmer . Anyway, I remember now when I bought the album back in the 80's I just assumed that Joe Jackson had scored the music that I was hearing and that it just sounded very "Barryesque". I remember now being disappointed that the album only contained the forgettable pop songs contained in the film which were written by Joe Jackson. I haven't listened to the album since then surprisingly!! Whats more annoying is that on the album sleeve in the cast and crew credits, it says "Original music by Joe Jackson"...no mention of Barry. What a con eh? The score itself had elements of the saxophone solo in "Body Heat" I thought. Gae
