Well, it seem that the DVD release of Shrek wont have an isolated score on it. ;-((( With all the request made for a score release, and the big succes of the movie at the box office, it's a shame they won't make the music available. :-( Hope then for a promo or a complete score of it soon.posted 08-09-2001 06:55 PM PT (US)

I second that. As soon as the beautiful score becomes available, I hope to quickly obtain it. It's such a grand score....too bad it's not available yet

I heard that DreamWorks Records might release one when the DVD/VHS comes out, like the "MiB" score by Elfman was by Columbia.--Brian

I still don't understand what is Dreamworks problem that they couldn't place score AND songs on the same CD.There was THAT much score.
I refer you to such CDs as Bowfinger and Nurse Betty. If Varese can do it...

it was so pathetic for the film makers to include songs, what were they thinking? I like SHrek a lot, but using all score and NO songs would've been better for me. Of course, IMO using stop-motion and having (it's first [in 1998] intended dir.) Henry Selick direct would've aided it incredibley (again, IMO).

I too get angry at the fact that, despite Shrek's absolutely enormous success, there hasn't been a score album released yet. You'd think it's the least they could do. I didn't think the songs detracted too much from the film, but then again I thought the film was merely average, as I've commented on several times
The score, animation aside, was easily the best part of the film. And yea JJH has a good point, they probably could have put the score on there.. Then again, I doubt it would have made a critical change in the sales of the album... I still just don't understand how in the world this film got so popular, and perhaps I never will. Almost every animated / CG feature I've seen in the past two years is far better, that is of course Titan A.E. aside

Me neither, I think such animated bombs like Monkeybone and James and the Giant Peach deserve at least a 1/3 of the success of Shrek. Of course, both of these films did not make well in the box office....Monkeybone more so than Peach. Of course, this is coming from someone who loves both of theses films.I think Shrek is a good film, but I'd prefer the story to be a little more dark/funny than on the romantic/crap music/comedy. The CGI is well done, but these character would've worked better as models than as CG character IMO. The score is a work of genius and I love the themes very much. I hope a score is released sometime soon.

Well, it is almost a certainty that a boot will come out eventually, if Dreamworks don't come out with a release of the score. IMO, knowing this, they would be stupid not to do so.
In any case, IIRC, I heard they want to release additional song CD' instead. Most likely "inspired" by albums. Take that as you will. Dreamworks is going to be getting much heat, if this lasts any longer! Especially, if it is to release such garbage!

Of course, I didn't say they would get heat from me. Now did I?! They just won't get any money from me, for what they think is a quality product!
Though, I bet they would in general, when those who really want it get pissed off enough to be vocal about it. How?! I don't know, but methinks it will have something to do with the fans charging their way with clubs in hand!
