Silva's The Lion In Winter (which I won in a contest).

I haven't bought anything in a while now purposely, I've got almost 30 unplayed albums I want to familierise myself with before buying anything else, this is not easy as I really want AI and Final Fantasy but so far I've been strong!

I just have to do this (like an alcoholic) 'one day at a time'

    Four John Scott CDs:

Cousteau: The First 75 Years/The Warm Blooded Sea Absolutely fantastic music, beginning to end.

Cousteau/Amazon Part 2. The Indians Another totally excellent score(s), 3 actually.

Cape Horn/Channel Islands The Channel Islands score has some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.

Parc Oceanique Cousteau The first track of this one is awesome. I'm less enthusiastic regarding most of the other tracks compared to the first 3 Cousteau scores mentioned.

    Received in July:

    Wot no Goldsmith?!??

    MILLER'S CROSSING (Carter Burwell)
PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE / BACK TO SCHOOL (Danny Elfman)
    GALAXY QUEST (David Newman)
    THE CABLE GUY (John Ottman)
    WITNESS (Maurice Jarre)
THE SHINING (TV) (promo) (Nicholas Pike)
NOTHING TO LOSE (promo) (Robert Folk)
THE BEYOND / RATMAN (Stefano Mainetti / Fabio Frizzi)
CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD (Stelvio Cipriani)
    DUNE (expanded) (Toto)
    AIRPORT (Alfred Newman)
THE SWORD AND THE SORCEROR (David Whitaker)
    THE EIGER SANCTION (John Williams)
MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME (Maurice Jarre)
THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (Richard Band)
    MANIAC (Jay Chattaway)
    TRAPPED IN PARADISE (Robert Folk)
    THE YARDS (Howard Shore)
    ROSEWOOD (John Williams)
A FISH CALLED WANDA (John Du Prez)
    PRINCESS CARABOO (Richard Hartley)
    STANLEY AND IRIS (John Williams)
CRITTERS 2: THE MAIN COURSE (Nicholas Pike)
A TIME TO KILL (Elliot Goldenthal)
    THE BORROWERS (Harry Gregson-Williams)
BLAIR WITCH 2: BOOK OF SHADOWS (Carter Burwell)

CD Of The Month for July is a score I've been wanting for ages and now I have, despite its commission for a frankly dodgy movie. It's the score that first fuelled my interest in soundtracks, particularly the climactic action cues and the amazing end title music. Michael J Lewis' absolutely stuning THE MEDUSA TOUCH.

    NP: BAD GIRLS (Jerry Goldsmith)

    Today:

    • Jurassic Park III (Don Davis) - Finally, and surprisingly cheap, too ($11.4, usual soundtrack price is $14, but many recent releases are $19). Sounds good so far, and the Randy Newman song is quite nice, too.
    • What Lies Beneath (DVD) - I wasn't completely satisfied after seeing it in the theater (very thrilling, but the story got too stupid towards the end), but still liked it because of the atmosphere and direction. Sadly, it's not nearly as exciting anymore when you watch it again.

NP: Jurassic Park III (Don Davis)

    • Classic Film Music of Dimitri Tiomkin

Also last week, with thanks to Timmer:

    • Deadfall (John Barry) / Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (Maurice Jarre)

I didn't list them earlier because I wanted to listen to them first so I can give some details, but as it turns out, I don't know what to say except that they're all very good, anyway. Ah yes, and everyone who likes Williams' Lost World should love Predator 2!

    Today, thanks to Sean/OHMSS:

    • Star Trek: Insurrection, Expanded (Jerry Goldsmith)
    • Gremlins, Expanded (Jerry Goldsmith) - Includes three tracks from Twilight Zone
