Wait till you hear the music. Obviously, Basil Poledouris graduated from the Elmer Bernstein school of comedy scoring. A hidden gem.
I almost forgot a CD:

Got as a present Gremlins 2: The New Batch (Jerry Goldsmith), one I'd missed out on all that time back. Quite enjoyed it, more so on the last listen when I was in silly mode. There is some nice stuff in there, like the penultimate track, which is uplifting in a Hoosiers way. Mostly though, it's Jerry having a good time. It's fairly ostinato-based (I always thought that in some scores Jerry had an ostinato going around in his head and the subsequent scores were mere embellishments on this). Loads of percussion from the days when he considered percussion to be the sound of a basketball bouncing on the floor (Hoosiers obviously, and less obviously Link, going all the way back to Extreme Prejudice). Relatively manic, appropriately.

Gremlins 2 is one of my favourite Goldsmith scores (and one of those which I would have asked him to sign, if we had gotten the chance in London). And Pot Luck is one of his best tracks.

Pot Luck is indeed great, Marian. That glissando downwards on the mighty Wurlitzer is a touch of manic genious!(Says serius person, "It wasn't a glissando, and it certainly wasn't the mighty Wurlitzer".
But you know what I mean!

I love the way Goldsmith goes back to the "Pot Luck Theme" after that bridging sequence based on the Gremlin rhythm. Simply perfect!I'll be taking this CD to London again next year if I go to next year's concert.

John, the packaging for Tenchi the Movie 2 is confusing as hell. In short, Masato Nakamura did not compose the music!
It's actually by Koh Ohtani!

It's actually by Koh Ohtani!Uh... okay. Are you saying they released a CD without the composer's name ANYWHERE on it?

Well, I did look at the back of my DVD, and sure enough, it says the music is by Koh Ohtani. But his/her name is nowhere to be found on the CD; I just sort of assumed the person credited for music would be the one who wrote it.
Wait just a second... I just found another credit on the CD. It says "All instrumental music composed by Seikou Nagaoka." Hmm.
It's gonna be hell deciding where to put this on my shelf.NP: Tenchi 2 Cd, by ... somebody.

Okay, I was confused by this at first too. The US domestic CD of TtM2 only lists the composer of the song, not the score. It wasn't until someone told me on one of the anime newsgroups just recently, that it wasn't from the listed composer. The first movie's score is by Christopher Franke in case you didn't know!

As for Seikou Nagaoka, don't know if this is a he or a she as well. But, in any case he/she did the OAV series' and at least the first TV series.

Regards,
Sean Robert AbbeyI did know who did the first movie (and in fact, that CD is in the mail. Most likely, it'll be the last thing I get before heading off to college next wednesday,)
But okay, I'll accept that my CD doesn't have the right composer on it anywhere.

Smidgin, how do you like N&A? I love anything that has to do with the Romanovs, and I like the end credits selection that was played, but how do you like the complete score?
