I need to check all these out. I have Dark City and the closing track is intense! I didn't know this, but I have the soundtrack to ET on an old record. That's kinda funny! Now I need to put it on CD.

While probably not THE most dramatic ending, I wholeheartedly agree with THE FAMILY MAN...

Here are a few off the top of my head:

"Godzilla Under the Sea" - Gojira (1954) Akira Ifukube
    "Saying Goodbye" from E.T.
"Rebel Fleet / End Title" from The Empire Strikes Back
"The Visitors / Bye / End Titles" from Close Encounters
    "The Ascension" from Cocoon

    Oh, now I g o t i t to work

Hey LEE, if You liked the finales from "Anastasia" and "Ever After", I presume that You would like also the finale from Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" - it has churchbells a thousand times better than "Ever After" and a very noble & enchanting climax passage. Just be sure to listen it from Disney Records "Classic Soundtrack Series" (the last release) because it is the complete version - from an earlier release they omitted the most magical 7 seconds.

Hey, I cant believe no-one's mentioned "The Throne Room and End Titles" in Star Wars, or is it too obvious?.
E.T. of course..the complete "Adventures on Earth"
The finale of "Spartacus" with Alex North's Love theme.
    Close Encounters of course.
The end music to "King Kong" and his fall of the Empire State building...(Steiner)
Mario Nascimbene's choral rendition of "The Viking's" theme during Douglas' cremation.
"The finale and End Titles" from Rozsa's "Eye of the Needle" gets me going every time...although this is ruined on the DVD as the music plays over itself twice!!
The closing music in "Jaws" before the "End Titles"...."Smile you son-of-a-bitch".
William's majestic and moving "End titles" to "The Towering Inferno"
David Arnold's "End Titles" to Independence
    Day of course.

Loads more, but I cant think of them at the moment!! Gae

    TIMMER'S RIGHT !!! How COULD I forget PREDATOR 2 - it's magnificent!

May I also suggest John Williams' enchanting "End Title" music from THE AMAZING STORIES - it closes Varese Sarabande's CD (World Premiere Recording)... In my opinion the "End Title" is Williams' most magical and soaring piece of music and the perfect ending for all the TV episodes.

What the Brits did to the Scots is akin to the GENOCIDES we see occurring in Europe and Africa throughout the past 60 years.

The history of their criminal behaviour in Scotland is truely horrific.

...And can any of you name a 'progressive' country without blood on it's hands?!

Big Bear, I'm not bitter about Braveheart, I quite enjoyed the film though did find the ending cringe inducing, my 'fantasy' comment was very tongue in cheek though I do get narked when supposedly historical drama's become 90's revisionist overhauls! I'll leave it at that before I start sounding like my neighbor D2 (not that I could...I have the typing speed of a tortoise, it would take me till next week to do a D2 like posting )

I know 3 Scottish gentlemen, all of whom thought Braveheart was hilarious (not least for Mel Gibson's accent), all said (in differing ways) good battle scenes, crap film!

...and Wallace and the Princess? fantasy or what!

p.s. little known fact about Timmer...I'm related on my Mother's side to Robert Burns...TRUE!!

I can't believe no one has mentioned three of the most effective end title sequences in the history of the business:

Farewell My Life, My Love - Spartacus
Summer's End (AKA End Title) - To Kill A Mockingbird
