I bought a Twilight Zone DVD yesturday (volume 43) and through pure luck stumbled upon an isolated score easter egg for three of the four episodes (totaling about 20 minutes of classic TZ music). The iso scores were not advertised on the box, and relatively tough to find. The episodes on this disc were Episode 42 "Eye of the Beholder", episode 36 "A World of his Own" and episode 40 "A thing about machines". But be warned if you decide to rip the isolated scores, they need HEAVY restoration b/c of hiss. It took me about 3 hours to remaster the music and organize three suite tracks using cool edit pro. I found this very interesting, is anyone else aware that these episodic twilight zone DVD's had iso scores? In fact, do any of the other volumes on dvd have iso scores??Rich D.

The DVD with Little Girl Lost is supposed to have an iso score of that. There is also a DVD with an iso Goldsmith score to one of the episodes not on the Silva 4 CD set.

Now this is interesting...I've always enjoyed the music in the Twilight Zone series. Thanks for the heads up.

Let's not just leave it here... any other DVD's have hidden iso score? Never heard of eggs on DVD. Not just the twiligt zone.

In fact, all TZ DVDs from 29 on up, excluding number 38, have hidden isolated scores. It's usually not for every episode, only the ones where the music was isolated on the original mags. There was a thread on the Talking Herrmann board by Stephen Pickard, the guy responsible for the hidden scores, which read as follows: "some of them (are) from 35mm magnetic 3-track fullcoat mono and others from 1/2 inch 4-track magnetic reel to reel. The dialog, effects and music were separate, and that is how I was able to isolate the music."
Many of the episodes are stock music, many times written by Bernard Herrmann and used in the CBS music library. There are some other gems by famous composers like Jerry Goldsmith's NIGHTMARE AS A CHILD.
Truth to be told, the isolated scores on the DVDs sometimes have very faint dialogue bleedover and volume fluctuations, due to the source. Considering their age, they sound pretty decent the way they are, in my opinion anyway.
