Everybody wish good cheers and prayers.

George Harrison just announced the other day that he is dying of throught cancer. I know this isn't movie music related but I grew up listening to The Beatles with my parents and have a vast collection of their cds. Harrison's contribution to the band has been astounding with memorable tunes such as "Here Comes The sun," "Something," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Not Guilty," and "Norwegian Wood." As such, his other solo contributions have been equaly pleasurable, especialy the newely restored double CD of "All Things Must Pass" featuring great tunes like "My Sweet Lord," "Apple Scruffs," and "Wha Wha".

Harrison is my favorite Beatle, and while he hasn't passed on yet. I will keep him in my prayers.

NP George Harrison, "All Things Must Pass" - Apple Scruffs"

When I read The Lord of the Rings for the first time (about at age 13 or 14, before I had ever heard of film music), Here Comes the Sun was playing when I reached the climax at Mount Doom. I always heard that song in a different way since then.

I say this all the time, so why not post it here: I don't believe that George Harrison wrote ONE BAD SONG while he was with The Beatles.

    Sorry to hear the news.

Can't possibly say how much of an affect the Beatles and their music had on myself and my generation. They were immensely talented and George's guitar playing and song writing was always an integral part of the group. He seems to be taking things in good spirits, which would be just like he's always been.

You should be relieved to hear that this was misreported by the Mail. Georges Harrison and Martin deny the reports of his imminent death. See your preferred news source for more info.

    Nice!
Glad to hear about my mis information. The media said everything from throught cancer to brain tumors. Turns out that alot of the sources came form british tabloids. Amazing what news reporters will do to make a quick buck.
BTW, I got this news from Fox News channel... guess I won't be watching that station again. I am wondering what the truth is now. Or we can just wait and let time tell us.

Aaron, seriously.........if you are going to stop watching the Fox News Channel for reporting something that turned out to be false, you had better stop reading USA Today, watching CNN, and any other news source out there, because they all reported it.

Even though the news is looking good, I just wanted to mention that Norwegian Wood is my favourite Beatles tune and I didn't know it was penned by Harrison.

Norwegian Wood might not have been penned by Harrison, but he did provide the Sitar (citar?) music for it. He just picked up the thing at a shop and started plucking away. Without that key instrument the song would have been dead So I still consider it a Harrison tune regardless.

Yeah, the radio this morning mentioned that he's denying the tabloid accounts, however, the Daily Mirror is sticking to its story. The question, then, is is Mr. Harrison denying it (for obvious reasons) even though it's true? Don't apologize just yet, Aaron...

Here's to George Harrison, 1943 - 2001. May he rest in peace. Hard to believe that already 50% of the Beatles are no more. I still remember the day John Lennon was shot. (Whose name was not George.)

Nicolai, his name's still JOHN Lennon...

    Aaron:

Of course the Beatles are "movie-related" -- they made and/or contributed to numerous films: A HARD DAY'S NIGHT (still a brilliant evocation of a unique time and place); HELP!; they lent their speaking and singing voices and caricatures to the animated YELLOW SUBMARINE and STRAWBERRY FIELDS; and Lennon and McCartney wrote the songs for the documentary feature ALL THIS AND WORLD WAR II.

Moreover, the Beatles proved themselves to be the best screen comic team since the Marx Brothers, though with their own irreverent sensibilities.

Yep, I'd say that the art and craft of the cinema owes 'em a tip of the cap.

Whoops. Wonder how that happened. Of course it was JOHN. Can't believe I wrote that.

Yes, sad sad week for Beatlemaniacs like myself. I realise that I've been abscent from the board for a very very long time (as I write this, I am wondering if my username & password are still working). It's too bad that It has taken a blow like this to bring me back to my old friends... perhaps it is the same thing with distant relatives.. when a grandparent passes away you are all drawn together for the first time in years.

The Beatles have been a part of my life for so long that living without them would be like living without a close relative. I mourn the death of George because though I have never known him personaly, he has always been a part of the musical culture... Just seems sort of empty somehow...

I listen to his stuff, All Things Must Pass in particular, and truly feel the passion of "My Sweet Lord" and "Wha Wha..." The little Beatle tunes he's contributed, "I Me Mine" is constantly sung to myself. His music shall never be forgoten.

Last week I started a huge art project for my 2d design class in dedication to The Beatles and their lives. Sadly there shall be a seperate dedication for George.
