Forgive me if this has been posted before. Prior to seeing Jurassic Park III (okay movie, not the strongest story but the Dinosaurs were ten times more effective than ever before), a trailer was run for a movie based on the Three Musketeers, centering around D'Artagnan, and featuring fight choreography from someone from Hong Kong whose name I didn't catch. The fight scenes in the trailer were great, it does feature Stephen Rea as Cardinal Richelieu (Rea's a good actor who I think will be much better suited to this role than Tim Curry- though I liked him in that movie), and here's the part I thought all you David Arnold fans would dig: he's doing the score-

I did a little research on the score, and here's the deal-

    The Musketeer
    Film opens: 9/7/01
    Soundtrack released: 9/11/01
    Release company: Decca/UMG Soundtracks.

This is great news because we get an adventure score from Arnold for the first time since Independence Day, and depending upon if the film and the score are worth, we might get a decent sized release from Decca.

It may not be worth getting excited about, but after the trailer I saw, it's certainly something that could be enjoyable as this really dreadful summer comes to a close.

My frevent hope is that Planet of The Apes doesn't suck.

Thanks for the confirmation, Chris! It's been known that David Arnold was scoring "The Musketeer" for several months now, but it's good to finally see his name billed in the credits. As a die-hard Arnold fan, I can't wait.

Well.. we all know that just because your name shows up in the trailer credits, doesn't necessarily guarantee that your score won't be tossed out - especially when the film is still a little ways off....

Exactly. I was just coming back to edit my post to add this little blurb: let's hope he actually scores the thing, as opposed to what happened with "End of Days." But for a film like this... I highly doubt anything David Arnold composes could be a candidate for the toss-out club. He doesn't write inappropriate music.

why is it taking them till the end of August to release Baby Boy?

that's like Cast Away. no one cares (save score geeks like us) two months after the film's opening.

They better hope lots of score freaks buy the album. Otherwise, they might lose money.

Most people who are impressed with a soundtrack album, want to go out and buy it immediately or almost immediately after seeing the movie.
By the time Baby Boy comes out, the few people who have seen it, probably won't care much about the movie. let alone the instrumental Arnold score.

Bulldog, Baby Boy is, as was Shaft, an orchestral/electronics-fused score. It's very much in the vain of the songs featured in the film. I'm definitely looking forward to it... then again, I'm a David Arnold nut.
