I was flipping through my Die Hard dvd that I got yesterday, and on disc two, if you watch the interactive slide show, there's score music playing throughout, that runs almost 10 minutes long. Now I scanned through it, and recognized much of the music from the complete 2 cd score and film, but the music at the beginning, I did not recognize. I think it may be unused music from the movie. Can anyone confirm?

Again, I was just flipping through, and it was late, so I may have just been out of it.

Cause if it is the case, looks like another unused piece I'll have to add to the end of the Die Hard complete boot.

I heard that too. Dunno if it's actual stuff Kamen wrote, or (as Fox might be prone to doing) something they just snagged from their music archive.....

(I know it's not Fox, but it's similar: the DVD menus on the FROM DUSK TILL DAWN Special Edition DVD uses music from SCREAM. Weird.)

The only reason I think it's Kamen, is because it sounds like Kamen, it sounds very much like the rest of the film, and the rest of the music used in the slideshow is from the movie. That's my reason for thinking anyway.

Does Kamen have a "sound"? He is one of the few composers who I can't label with a distinctive sound.

Oh, Kamen's got a sound alright.

This is pretty random, but if you remember the opening piece from Baron Munchausen, there are frantic and dissonant strings that play when we are introduced to the skull-headed gargoyle. This little bit is the best encapsulation of what I would call the 'Kamen' sound.
