What label will release Shores Score for"Lord of the rings"?What do you think.I hope it will be a major label ,so that we can hear 75 minutes of pure Shore score.
Sony Classical or Decca would be nice.
In case it will be Decca I hope they don't include dialog, even in "Lord of the rings" will be dialog which is more suited for album release as say ??? ..äh Hannibal.

It will be New Line Records.

They release all the New Line Soundtracks.

But a Sony Classical release would be bad ass, I love SC! :-) Good packaging and everything.

I do except them to put out a full CD of the score, perhaps even a 2CD set if the score is very long (remember, reportedly Peter Jackson is currently trying to convince NewLine to let him leave the trilogy at full 10 hours length!).

Dialogue? If it adds to the music, please. Otherwise, please don't. So far, the only album that comes to my mind that is really enhanced by dialogue is Ed Wood. Which is also a Shore score, so who knows? It might work with LOTR, but that depends on how Shore scores the film. If parts of his score are very close to the film's dialogue, I could imagine that lines like "One ring..." could work.

NP: Supergirl (Jerry Goldsmith) - Lacks a little punch in comparison to the brilliant London performance

    Not quite true.

Virgin Records released BLOW, Varese is releasing RUSH HOUR 2, Trauma Records released SUGAR AND SPICE.... want me to go on?

So until something is announced, I'd say that ANY label could potentially release the soundtrack.

As long as Shore stays a bit accessible with this one, I guess the score should sell pretty well. In this case, New Line would be quite stupid if they gave it to another label, no?

Oh, probably! I'm sure that New Line wants to keep ANYTHING related to LOTR close to home....

But I'm just saying that there are no "absolutes".

Hey, Benford, I'll answer your question.

I would love to see Intrada or Varese release this one. Intrada always makes a great product, and Varese, knowing this has the potential to be winner, would put extra into actually making it a winner, too. Knowing this score will be a boon for whichever label releases it, it would be nice to see either Intrada or Varese rake in a few significant profits... either of these labels deserve it, and an influx of cash would only open the door for more in the future (look at what Sony Classical released before and after 1997, if you know what I mean).

I urge you to try another core with a few bits of dialogue: Shadow of the Vampire by Dan Jones.

some really creepy stuff in there.

why yes, I am assuming you don't have it.

If they release all the New Line scores, then why is Varese releasing Rush Hour 2? Just wondering.

Heh, Dan proved me wrong. But New Line Records put out some good scores, I'd just assume them.

DAMN! The recording Quality on this disc is BAD, The score is rather bleak and uninspiring....... and it sounds (for the very first time) like a James Horner score.... SHAME ON YOU JOHN WILLIAMS!

I actually played the overture two more times, and then started all over again (though I put in a different CD after half of the score). I really hear the score "with new ears" after the London concert.

Totally agreed on the sound quality, but I think some parts of the score are really nice. Also, I'm getting the feeling that I would enjoy Williams' recent scores (including Angela's Ashes and Patriot) much more if they had better sound quality. When Murphy takes aways the "background" music, he takes away the fun as well.

If Varese gets it, I don't think they'll be so stupid to make a 30 minute album. Unless Shore does the score in a VERY atonal way, I guess a LOT people will buy the score. Also, it's said to be recorded in London, so nothing should stop them from doing a full disc (perhaps two!?)

I hope there will be a 2 Disc-set for Fellowship. The movies will be long, and there will probably be much score in it.
It need to be 2 discs!

I have no idea how much score Shore will write, but considering that Peter Jackson reportedly wants the trilogy to run for 10 hours (as I said above), and that's still short if you know the book, there will probably be a lot of music, also because it will have a promintent role in showing us the passing of time (due to several parts that will probably have to be shortened and/or left out completely).

Shore is recording or recorded this in Australia or New Zealand, correct? Surely its less expensive and buyouts and such could give us a 70 minute or more album. Providing there is enough score to do that with. Besides, this is one of those movie events so I can only assume they will milk it for whatever its worth.

Shore recorded the music for the Moria segment shown in Cannes in New Zealand. The rest of the score will reportedly be recorded in London.

Uhm... far be it from me to always want to correct you but: Angela's Ashes was Simon Rhodes, not Shawn Mushy.

And I do not believe Conquest of the Planet was by John Scott.

Indeed! I had always assumed it was Murphy (LOL), since he does most of Williams albums and Ashes sounds that way, too...
