Ok, there's two types of people here...(and it's not those that like films and those that like movies)...

There's the ones that bought that Goldenthal release last Tuesday...

And then there's the ones that bought Burwell's latest.

(Actually, there's a small contingent out there that actually bought *both*...making that three types of people here....and if there's three types of people here, then there's probably more than people who just like films and just like movies....but that's a different arguement...)

Ok. Carter. Burwell. Probably (like Goldenthal) you either love him or you hate him. He can be depressing and moody, pensive and vast. But you always know when you're listen to him. A Knight's Tale is not the exception. With a little imagination, it could be The Jackal, with a happy ending.

Maybe Burwell leans heavily on the minor chord progression...<shrug> I like it. Your mileage may vary. For die-hard Burwell fans, this should be an excellent investment. For those of you who aren't interested in hearing that similar Rob Roy-meets-Fargo sound, I'd say Final Fantasy is on shelves now...

If it's Burwell, it's gotta be good.

I think each of us likes a certain type of music. For me action music has to have some type of motif or theme before I find it appealing. I don't think all people love or hate Burwell. He writes scores to fit each movie. If he is dissonant the whole time, it may not appeal to me but will fit the movie. If he is more thematic, I enjoy it more. (Typical of most composers, I guess.) I thought his underscore for A Knight's Tale was excellent, and I'm still waiting for Mystery, Alaska. And waiting and waiting and waiting.

I'm playing on my radio show tomorrow and that will be the last time I listen to it. I really don't like it at all! The only Burwell that I listen to is Rob Roy. The rest of his stuff just doesn't do it for me.
