I'm a huge fan of the original godzilla movies. And when i heard that the US was going to make a godzilla movie, I was suo excited. When they released the first teaser during men in black, icouldn't wait. After the movie finally came out, I felt I got slapped in the face. It was the biggest let down I have ever watched. The only thing I liked about the movie was the score by David Arnold. Now that Columbia is going to give the go ahead for the sequel. Who do you think should score it. After careful listeing of a few of his scores, I came up with Elliot Goldenthal. If you listen to his scores carefully, you can hear Godzilla type themes in his scores. Even in Final Fantasy. Who do you think should score the next one?

Um...where did you hear about Godzilla 2 being greenlit???

I think they should either stick with David Arnold or Goldenthal. FF has really changed my mind about him.

With Final Fantasy, Goldenthal is simply throwin' everyone a slow ball so they can hit it. Finally, a pitch most people like. Just wait for his next pitch....

    [evil laugh!]

Arnold is a fine choice, or... Don Davis! Davis seems to do quite well for sequels... or should we call them extra innings?

    William Ross.

    Steve Bramson.

    Christpher Stone.

any of the three would be nice.

Or another just as unlikely possibility:
Hans Zimmer composes, Shirley Walker orchestrates and conducts.

I see no reason to go ahead with this lame attempt to franchise a cult hero like Godzilla. Sony already did enough damage with the first film. I would rather they spend their efforts to get Toho to release DVD's of the original Godzilla and other Kaiju films in letterboxed, subtitled editions to the fans worldwide instead of region 2 releases. If you get a chance to check out the release ads for some of those DVD's you'll see all of the goodies they have.

Oh I would have Elliot Goldenthal score the film. While Arnold did a decent job, mostly with his military marches, the rest was pretty average.

David Arnold once more... I don't care how crappy the projects he gets are... I'd rather him get a crappy sci-fi/action flick than a coming of age thug flick, at least all the crappy sci-fi / action films he has done have brought out great scores.

    oooo!!!
I like the idea of Band scoring Godzilla. But I don't think it will happen. I think that perhaps Jerry Goldsmith should do it (even though my first choice would be Elfman, Goldsmith would actually be an exzellent choice).

I've got a better idea - instead of making Godzilla 2, why don't they make something completely original with characters we care about, a script that actually tells an interesting story with great writing and dialog, good acting, and a great score.

They can call it - "My Dinner With Andre 2"

cuz all I've ever heard from William Ross is pretty boy pastoral music, as in The Evening Star and My Dog Skip.

Plus the main theme to My Dog Skip sounds alot like it was temped by the theme to Rudy, or I should say that Ross was heavily influenced by it.

Sony should not be making this film, they should be on their knees kissing Toho's ass and begging forgiveness.

Actually if I could find a way to remove any dialogue with the word Godzilla from D & E's film it would make a pretty decent monster movie, perhaps I could call it "Attack of The Mutated Iguana".

This your opinion is easily explained and easy to understand. I then suggest trying to find Tin Cup, The Amazing Panda Adventure or My Fellow Americans. It's a different side of Ross. The action music is a lot like Silvestri's. Normal I guess.
