Although I DO reckognize this to be a international message board, I nonetheless wish all of us on the US side a happy (and safe) 4th of July.

10 summers ago I spent the 4th of July in a little town on the Californian coast called Arcata, we went down to the beach in the evening for some great festivities, bonfires, bar-b-q's and fireworks...oh, and did I mention beer, LOTS of beer!We got our legs pulled for being British but it was all done with a nudge and a twinkle in the eye

Have a great 4th all you statesiders, besides I'm an adopted citizen of the U.S. anyway?!...ain't that right Mom

Hey Timmer, if you're adopted you're a legal citizen of the USA, so you need to light some fireworks (safely says mom) and have another beer for the Fourth. (Unless you've reached the point where you can't lift the glass anymore.
) I golfed today with friends. 106 degrees here. I am NUTS!NP The Big Country just like Timmer

I got to go up to Washington and stand on the mall for a couple hours. Would've been sitting, but around 7:15, 7:30 it started raining. Hard. Didn't stop until 9:10, so for about two hours all half a million people without umbrellas wound up squeezed into the refreshment and entertainment tents. And of course, everyone got soaked. Then they set off the fireworks, but they seemed kind of shorter than usual. Hmm, I wonder why. It rained a little more during them.
Then it rained again while we were on the platform waiting for the train to go home. And of course, we got back around 1:00 a.m, so excuse my lack of complete coherency.

I'd say, on that (relatively) thin strip of land along the Atlantic Ocean between Maryland and North Carolina, it rains every 4th of July....
