Hey!
I heard Varese is going to release a Die Hard Triology CD. Is that true?
Thanks,Castor

I was fortunate enough to meet the K-Man (my favourite composer) and he mentioned they're talking about it -- probably re-recording the scores with the Scottish National Orchestra. He also said that Rhino are planning to release a Best of Lethal Weapon CD, but I haven't heard anything since...

Steve,How long ago did you talk with Kamen about the LW scores? He indicated (if you use PeterK's wonderful search function, I'm sure you'll find the thread in which we discussed this!) that he's gonna release each score individually.... at least, last I heard.

Dan,I went along to a scoring session for an episode of Band of Brothers at the start of May. He said they were going to do ONE CD with music from all of the LW films.
I mailed Rhino to ask when the discs would be released but they said they knew nothing about it... which is a tad worrying.

Castor Troy has been using PeterK's wonderful search engine a little more than suspected:
http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/000834.htmlA Die Hard Trilogy on Varese, a la The Alien Trilogy album, is a great project idea. Let's see it finished!
Castor, where've you been? You haven't posted here in two years!

That's cool. I was watching Die Hard on FX last night, and listening to the music wishing that Varese or Fox had followed through with their CD years ago.Granted Varese re-recordings of late have been a little lacking, but in some cases they are better than nothing.

Off topic slightly, but I recommend any Die Hard fan buy the new 6 disc DVD box set out on Tuesday the 10th. I've spent the weekend with the whole package and it's superb stuff!Dan (UK)

I'm really curious as to what's on these DVD's Dan. I guess the one the really interests me is Die Hard With A Vengeance because of it's 6 different endings that were shot and not used. Can you tell us what's on each disc?

Well, where to begin:Die Hard: 5 Star Collection (2 discs) 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 sound, 2 commentary tracks, 3rd on screen "text" commentary" and an extended branched version of the movie all on disc 1.
Disc 2 contains numerous documentaires, a GREAT featurette on the importance of widescreen presentation (puke as they pan scan it before your very eyes) a couple more deleted scenes, trailers, tv spots and articles.
Die Hard 2 (2 discs)
Commentary, 2.35:1 anamorphic transfer, Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 sound all on disc one.Disc 2, deleted/extended scenes, documentaries, trailers, tv spots and heaps more.
Die Hard with A Vengance (2 discs)
Commentary, 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital 5., DTS 5.1 sound all on disc one.Disc two, like the others, a wealth of documentaries, tv spots and trailers and an alternate ending with option Jonathan Hensleigh commentary.
I don't think it is true SIX endings were shot, many were planned, but only one, the 'russian roulette with a chinese rocket launcher' ending was shot and subsequently included on disc 2 of DH3. I like this scene, but not in context with the rest of the movie.
There's heaps more on the discs I've not mentioned, the new transfers make the new set worth buying alone, but there is so much more to be had.

Reviews of the other two are on the way, but I've put up a full review of the Die Hard with a Vengance 2 disc Special Ed release at DVD in Detail. The menus are also online.Dan (UK)
