The CD comes out on Tuesday, so some people have gotten it early. I myself got a review copy and (having seen the film already) put my review up here.Dan

As JJ said, "thank God you like it!" I am happy that you enjoyed this one. I am anxious to hear this one.As a suggestion, if you want to hear some more of Goldenthal's choral work, check out "Fire Water Paper." It is one of my favorite works and feautures some of thickest and jarring orchestration I have heard in a long time. Get this one now!

Also, for the die-hard Goldenthal fans, check out Othello to get another taste of his intense writing. It doesn't end up in the player much, but it's worth a few listens.posted 06-30-2001 05:39 PM PT (US)

I bought this yesterday.OH MY GAWD ITS AWESOME!!!. This is the best score Goldenthal has done period. This is the best score I have heard this year.Super Intense. The recording with the LSO almost melted my speakers and shook the foundations, its WOW. If you like the music of Szymanowski,Penderecki,Shostakovich,R.Strauss and Herrmann then you will love it too.I am one happy camper.Just get it and crank this baby. YEA!

Dammit dammit DAMMIT! I checked some stores for it yesterday - nothing. I did see that some Austrian has a review on it on his website, so I have hopes that I might find it tomorrow.NP: Sphere (Elliot Goldenthal)

VERY nearly grabbed the disc on saturday when I picked up AI, but at the time had not heard a cue of music from the score. After hearing some of the stuff here on the Moviemusic.com entry for the CD, I am ordering it immediately.Dan (UK)

Fantastic score! Goldenthal has grown on me over the years...but the energy alone in this score makes it worthwhile.Final Fantasy holds the most interest for me in the film world for the rest of the summer...bring it on!

Gotta add my 2 cents here as well: the score is incredible, Goldenthal has yet to disappoint me with any of his music. I really wish he had been nominated for TITUS or THE BUTCHER BOY at the Oscars and it's unlikely that he would get nominated for this one, but FINAL FANTASY is certainly of award-winning quality. It's epic sweep knows no bounds! And in what other film could a composer write an 8-minute cue of mostly sustained dissonance and atonality (Toccato & Dreamscape)?

I am blown away by this score. Reminds me so much of Goldsmith's older days (ALIEN, ETC). Easily the second best score of the year.
