    Well, not me for sure!
He is obviously one of the finest.
But the other day I was talking to some guy who considers himself to be a "movie music enthusiast" when we started to talk about these hacks we are forced to hear from time to time.

Hanzimmer, James Horn-in, Trevor Rabinho, Brad Infidel and some others pop out naturally. But them, sudenly, he started to bash DANNY ELFMAN!!?? I was shocked!

"But what about BATMAN, BEETLEJUICE, DEAD PRESIDENTS, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, MEN IN BLACK, MARS ATTACKS!, BLACK BEAUTY, NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS(not by coincidence the best score for a Tim Burton movie to date) etc, etc..." I argued, but with no success. This guy just twisted his noses to all these scores!

Who else can't dig DANNY ELFMAN's outstanding art and doesn't feel embarrassed to admit it?

Despite your keen grasp of the English language, André, given that it is not your first language, you may have misunderstood my intent here. 'Parody' does not mean the same thing as 'Sarcasm' or 'Irony' or even 'Joke.' Let me elaborate:

You see, what makes this thread a parody is the fact that I'm poking fun at your thread about Howard Shore. I imitated a lot of what you said, but I gave it a satirical twist in such a way that it was lightly mocking some things you've said previously. Even if BB, Kyriacos, and I all hated Danny Elfman, that still wouldn't make it a parody. No, I'm afraid I was seriously defending Danny Elfman as the gifted composer he is. 'Twas you I was lampooning.

That's ok, though. You're entitled to dislike Danny Elfman, and I'm entitled to give you a hard time about it.

That was exactly what I was talking about, Probable.

You were just trying to parody my original thread about Howard Shore's talents, and them choose Donuts because you know I don't like his mediocre tunes.

And you don't need to feel so embarrassed to admit you actually like the Funfa King. It is your right as a human being!

I'm afraid you're wrong on three counts, André. Firstly, no, that wasn't what you were talking about. Regretfully, you don't seem to understand what I'm saying. Secondly, no, I don't like the Funfa King. I don't even know who that is. Thirdly, if by chance you meant Danny Elfman, then I'm not at all embarrassed to say that I like him. That's part of the point of this thread.

Hmm...well, it was a little closer, but I'm afraid you haven't quite grasped the concept of 'parody' yet, André. Keep trying, though.

I still think A Simple Plan is his best. Fine film.

His best, by far, would have to be The Nightmare Before Christmas!!! What an utterly fantastic album, and damn does his voice soar. Andre I'm not sure I read it right but did I see that you actually liked this one? If so, great! =P

    You are right, Hasta.
I really like NIGHTMARE BEFORE X-MAS' songs.
The orchestral score is ok, but not as good as the songs.

Donuts is definitly a better song writer than a score composer.
