    From DarkHorizons.com

"K-19: The Widowmaker: The Age reports that David Hirschfelder ("Elizabeth") will score the Harrison Ford sub drama."

Is this a good thing? Never heard the mans music.

Didn't the MM wire report the same thing a few weeks back?

Anyway, some people really love Hirschfelder's music.
I very much dislike it. His music not only does not please my aural senses, it annoys them.

He did music for Shine, and the formerly mentioned Elizabeth. He also did a comedy with Diane Keaton, Meg Ryan and the blonde "Friends" girl. OST available on Varese Sarabande, but I can't remember the damn name of the movie.

And he also scored a cue or two during the Sydney 2000 opening ceremonies (at least one of his Sydney cuts is available on the opening ceremonies soundtrack album marketed by Sony Music and BMG Australia).

This is not news to be very excited by.

    Hanging On.

I don't know enough Hirschfelder to know whether this K-19 might or might not be a good, bad or indifferent thing. Or not. Possibly...

    actually, isn't that Hanging Up?

I've heard a bit of that in the film, and it's so so -- but only what I heard.

    we'll see.

I say give the man a chance.

Now, I want to know when this movie John Barry scored called Enigma is coming out.

    It is Hanging Up.

If I remember well, Walter Matthau made his last appearance in that movie.

...and who can forget Hirschfelder's great score to STRICTLY BALLROOM?

I don't mind some of Hirschfelder's music. His score for Sliding Doors (which remains unrelased) was beautiful. Hanging Up was your basic romantic comedy score, and I thought Elizabeth was excellent.

I also saw The Weight of Water, which he also collaborated with Kathryn Bigelow on, late last year. The score was a bit dull. So was the film. It hasn't been released. Has it?

    I'm not dismissing him yet...

I'm not dismissing him either. I loved ELIZABETH, SHINE and STRICTLY BALLROOM (I wasn't being facetious, if that's how I came across - sorry!), and look forward to his score!

JJ, Enigma is released in September I believe, it was shown at Redford's 'Sundance' thingy and got very good reviews, apparently it's been held back to qualify for next years Oscars (or so I've heard), I expect the score will be released around then!

Great...something to go next to K-2 in the soundtrack library.

    (Interesting note: K-2 - also a widow-maker.)

(P.S. Did anyone else see this coming?)

(P.P.S.: How about the Enemy of the State...Enemy at the Gate pairing...?)

    (P.P.P.S.: I am not crazy.)

No. But I did think about K-9.

    I sometimes confuse those two.

This statement still has to be proven.

I feel I have nothing to prove on the matter, but I will accept questions presently.
