Well, what do you think?

yes they do.
Jonathan "Bloody Git" Broxton told me that Trevor Rabin was very distraught to learn that his music for Gone in 60 Seconds actually stunk to high heaven.NP -- 101 Dalmatians, Kamen

Yes, they do read the reviews... or at least their agents or publicists do. Jonathan told me about the Rabin incident (above), but they were able to reach a friendly understanding at the BMI awards.Dan

Can anyone go into detail about the Rabin incident. I wish he could've seen my review on it. I LOVED IT!

But do you think that, for example, Williams or Goldsmith read any reviews? Or some other 'oldies' like Bernstein?Do you think they care?
And before the WWW, where did they get feedback from, besides sales and film critics?Somehow I just can't picture Goldsmith logging on to see how many stars 'Along Came a Spider' got....

It has often been said that after reading Jeff Bond's "Air Force One" review in FSM, Jerry Goldsmith held a grudge against him. Actually, someone faxed the review to Goldsmith and there was trouble.

I know that Bernstein read my review of his Guitar Concerto album....As for the Rabin incident, that's best left to Jonathan Broxton to tell, if he wishes.
(but it's not THAT big a deal....)Dan

If I'm Jerry Goldsmith, I don't care a wit what any of these online reviewers think.
First off, I studied music, most web reviewers haven't. Secondly, I write the music and sometimes put together the album.
Sales are for the labels.
I've written excellent music since before almost all of these people's parents even met.
I've done quite nicely without web reviewers, thank you: I wrote Patton. Now, if I'm Trevor Rabin, trying to establish myself as Hollywood composer in the vein of
-- yikes -- Miklos Rozsa, and trying to sell CDs, then yes, I read the reviews and get mad when they write that the music is as fleeting as the title suggests.
of course, the above is all hypothetical and conjectural humor, so no one get your panties in a bundle here.
When I had my wee little review website 3 or 4 years ago (and it lasted only about 6 months...shitty reviews, and lack of time, being in graduate school and all), I was sent a gracious email by John Beal regarding a positive review I wrote of the Coming Soon! album, so I know he reads them on occasion.
