I know these are by the same composer, but I am noticing some similarities on track #3 on TRL "Journey to the Line" and the trailer for Pearl Harbor with lots of planes, which is similar to track # 2 on Pearl Harbor soundtrack. Anyone else notice, or am I just listening to too much music and getting confused?? Also, on track # 6 and some of # 9 on Pearl Harbor, it remimded me of Last of the Mohicans and Scream. I will go into more detail and try to get the exact point in the tracks I am talking about later tomorrow.

    bmustang,

track 3 from TRL, "jouney to the line" is indeed the music used in BOTH pearl harbor theatrical trailers. the music in the "trailer" on the website was later changed, but that's a separate issue.

and, you are correct in that it sounds similar to the pearl harbor score. zimmer basically took that theme and varied it a bit and that theme is repeated ENDLESSLY throughout the film.

    best,
    Sidney

I think one of my most favorite Zimmer cues is "Journey to the Line" that theme worked really well not only all the way through The Thin Red Line, but when used in Pearl Harbor as well. I actually have incorperated his theme pretty heavily into a score i did inspired by the computer game World War II Online which is due out this tuesday. I reorchestrated it a little and used it in two suites of about 10 minutes each to listen to when i play the game. Ahh the joy of being a composer and having the right equiptment :-). I put the theme in a nice adagio at the beginning then the last 6 minutes of each suite is manily action music, so i incorperated it there too for when things get exciting. I also incorperated the "ants go marching theme" in as well backed by full percussion, sounds almost like "small soldiers" with my own flair. I think the music should work well with the visuals of the game. If anyone else is into games and wants these suites of music to accompany the game drop me a line and I'll burn you a copy, it's very cool and original. Zimmer's "Journey" theme seems to work really well for any kind of war movie, so i figured why not in a war game as well?
