Yes, the only soundtrack release to the film is filled with the Dust Brothers' techno-electronica score.

Yes, there's a release of the score on Restless Records..and there's also a complete score boot going around which I do have which runs over 2 CD's. It's a great score definetly worth getting.

Elaborate on this 2CD set. Please include track info, as I want to see if this is just the promo and the official album combined.

If you liked the score to FC, which I own and love, check out Requiem for a Dream. It is more emotional and it has the Kronos Quartet mized with techno here and there, and in the end is an amazing score. I also love scores that try new things like Fight Club and Requiem. Fight Club and Requiem happen to be two of the best examples of mix of techno with score and how amazing it WORKS with the film. Far more powerful than a normal score I think...especailly RFAD which is a mix of both.

    Shaun:

The 2-CD set is for real. It's not just a patch-up job of the promo and official soundtracks.

I'd post the track listings, but alas, I'm too lazy to type them all up.

I also enjoy the fast paced robbery cues in PLUNKETT AND MACLANE.

    Great techno-classic beat.

That's a weird track listing! Where did this come from, as if there are remixes on there, it must be relatively "official" (not that it's an official CD, but was it culled from remixes on singles or something?).

Quit bringing up RFAD every time someone mentions Fight Club! I swear, once more and I'm going to break into a full rant about the horrors of that awful movie. It should have been called "Requiem for Good Film."
    Anyhoo, you've been warned...

Nice to know you loved the film there

but what I am mentioning is the score. The score is fantatstic. You are one of the tiny few who did not like it, so I am trying to let more into the many who loved it, especially the score. It is the best, or one of the best scores that mixes electronic with normal things, hell the Kronos Quartet is in on it! I can only spread the love...

OHM! DO NOT RENT THE EDITED DVD! I say do not rent it unless u can get the director's cut. Probable is one of the few who doe snot like the film, and I know why. I would leave it up to you to see if you like it or not, not Probable. CHeck it out if ya want, but ONLY if it is the director's cut.
Probable , OHM brought it up.

Well...the thing is, movie taste is a very individual thing. What I dislike, you may like a great deal. Mostly what I am trying to establish here is a pattern of "mixed reviews" for RFAD, by conflicting with Kross, rather than letting his "glowing reviews" perspective be the only one apparent. RFAD is a movie that tries really, really hard to be good and meaningful and powerful. In my opinion, it failed on all three counts for divers reasons. I do think that it is an interesting film, though, and I'd like to see some more Aronofsky films, especially considering how good Pi was. In the end, though the only way you can really judge RFAD is for yourself.

Was that suitably vague? Let me sum up: I don't like RFAD. Kross does. You might, but then again you might not. I should clarify, though, that Kross statement about my being "one of the few" who does not appreciate this film strikes me as a bit biased. Here are some reviews to consider:
    http://mrshowbiz.go.com/movies/reviews/RequiemforaDream_2000/review.html
    http://www.premieremag.com/Premiere/Article/New/0,2050,202_4525_1,00.html

If you really want to know why I personally dislike it, I can go into that, but I don't want to prejudice you with my specific impressions unless my review is asked for.

And yes, Kross, the best thing about RFAD is probably the score. I don't think it's quite as good as Fight Club, though, or Plunkett and Macleane, for that matter.

Event Horizon is another pretty cool electronica-based score, but it's a bit of an acquired taste, I think.

First of all, I don't think that my reasons for disliking it are exactly what you think they are, and secondly, did you just call me 'Doe Snot'? As in the nasal mucus of a female deer?

Thanks very much for the varying opinions on this one Probable, that makes sense to me.

I love tons of obscure things that drive most people mad, like the 4CD Phillip Glass, early electronic opera "Einstein on the Beach" which I have been playing nonstop today.

RFAD sounds appealing to me for it's nightmarishness, and if it's anything close to Fight Club, score or filmwise, I'll probably dig it

And I'll be sure to avoid that damned edited vers....saw that in Blockbuster a few weeks ago, and thought the pox on unrated movies had faded....guess not.

Of course, they also had the useless R-version of RE-ANIMATOR so....

I should clarify that I, too, am a fan of the obscure and unsual, and that I love early Glass and Fight Club is one of my favorite movies.

Then your cool in my book Probable!

You have more than likely experienced driving friends and family away by playing MUSIC IN 12 PARTS all the way through right?

Have you heard the new recordings of 12 PARTS and EINSTEIN since we're on the subject? I still have the older recordings

    Best,
