Well it's time for another unofficial poll and I hope that this will be an interesting thread.

I'm Just curios but what was your very first score or soundtrack? The first score my family got which was from a friend for christmas, was Toy Story 2 by Randy Newman. It was an excellent start and I got so excitted about it that I ran out and bought MY very first soundtrack which was The Lost World By John Williams. I had a choice between Jurrasic Park and it and like a fool choose the lost world because I had know Idea which score to buy. Get this at that point I had not heard of Jerry Goldsmith the only composer I had heard of was John Williams.

My brother's first score was The mask of zorro this was after I had bought mine.

And my other brother's fist score was The 13th Warrior.

Np:Amistad (John Williams)

John, my first LP was El Cid shortly after I saw it at the Ridglea Theatre in Ft. Worth. After hearing that intermission march I had to have that score. I played it to death on my Aunt and Uncle's very nice stereo at the time. It is still one of my favorites even after all these years. John.

I think my first soundtrack was "Back to the Future" on tape! I'll have to look at my tapes to be sure, but I think that's it. That was back in 1989!

My first score, was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on LP. It was so freakin awesome, I had to beg my mom to buy it for me. I was like mom, mom, gimme gimme. And my first soundtrack on CD was Mark Isham's Timecop, I still have it and I still love the freakin score as short as it is. Ah well..

Williams' JFK, back in January of '92. Followed by Aliens, then Sneakers.

Yes, I'm a recovering Horner fan.

I can't remember which score was the first I bought. Since, I bought so much different music at the time. Though, I do remember getting the music from the Star Wars and BTTF trilogies, Batman and Terminator 2, just about that time. Along with a ton of songtracks. A few years earlier I think I had a cassette of at least one of the SW films as well.

I did get a LP of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial when the film came out. However, it was a gift. And only listened to it once before the record player gave out. So, it did not make me a fan of film music. But, technically it was my first.

Regards,
Sean Robert Abbey

Star Trek VI...on tape in '92. When I finally got a CD player I purchased Basic Instinct.

I was hooked and shortly thereafter went on binge with my meager funds and bought a disc copy of ST6...then Glory, Batman, and I believe...Alien3.

Those were the days....

The first soundtrack album I heard was Jurassic Park, which I borrowed from the library. The first one I bought was Gremlins 2, followed by Alien. There was a really long story about this that I had up in my profile, but unfortunately I seem to have accidentally messed up updating it, & now it's not there no more. And it's far too long to type out again. At least for a while.

The Black Hole by Barry in 1981.

That same year was Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back (all vinyl in those days).

I bought Black Hole because I am a Disney fan.

Star Wars (Williams) converted me into a collector and Williams fan.

After those was Poltergeist and ET...now I was hooked and have been ever since. If it weren't for this addiction, I'd be a rich man by now.

well, i'm a little older than most, so my first soundtrack purchased was "Jaws" in the summer of 1975. I played the hell out of it but that started my long-standing love affair with movie music. When it needed replacing, i bought the cassette tape and then another LP of it just as a stand-by. So imagine my excitement when it first came out on CD! Sure have come a long way from those days, but that 26 year old LP still sits in my father's house as a reminder. I'll never get rid of it!

My first soundtrack was Dangerous Minds which I got 8 months before my first score. My first score was Broken Arrow. I didn't know scores existed until this CD. I asked myself one question the first time I heard the CD, "where's the singing?!" I got it for my b-day because I was a fan of the movie. But now, because of that awesome CD I love film scores.

Long time ago, I think it was The Terminator somewhere in the 80's. I also remember buying Top Gun because of that one score track (Anthem). Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was an early purchase too.

A Christmas prezzie Dec 1977: STAR WARS on vinyl - I was a tender 14 year old then

First one I bought was Close Encounters followed by Jaws and then Superman - The Movie.

And 24 years later I'm still loving John Williams music and now also collect jerry Goldsmith, some Horner, some Silvestri, some James Newton Howard, some Elfman and some David Arnold. That Christmas prezzie was the best ever prezzie to have received, it has lasted nearly 25 years!!

The first soundtrack album I heard was Kaper's MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY. I was probably around six or seven years old. Its still my favorite main title music of any score. I was six when I heard Herrmann's THE SEVENTH VOYAGE OF SINBAD and eight when I heard his MYSTERIOUS ISLAND. Was a Herrmann fanatic ever since. The first soundtracks I purchased indeed the first records I ever bought were Goldsmith's PATTON and Bernstein's THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. Also I was in love with the music of Richard Strauss and this was all at the age of 10 or 11. My friends and family did not know what to think of this,I just knew this music was me and I will always love it.

I have told this story a number of times on the board already but here goes....

The very first film music LP I bought was Citizen Kane conducted by LeRoy Holmes (I didn't know it would be bad) at the age of 12 or 13. Ben-Hur or Obsession was the first Original Soundtrack I bought.
