Oh Joan, you know you like it.

*JUST KIDDING!* <-- gotta be explicit, for those who might be offended.

Well...on an objective note. I have listened to the score all the way through...I enjoyed it, but nothing knocked my socks off. My fiance enjoyed the soft piano portions...overall its a nice listen, but I will reserve final judgement until I hear in context.

On a more disturbing note...I have received two emails at work from Andre with no less than a handful of explicatives and the standard hateful jabs at the US. His reaction to my post was suprising to say the least, considering his jeers and neverending insults flung at other members of this board.

As it is, I want take no part in an infantile screaming match. I apologize if what I said offended, considering the context and folks involved I did not think it would. Composers can evolve some for the worse (Horner) others for the better, which I believe Zimmer has. Quite a bit has changed in his musical style since The Rock, and prejudging a score based on a composer's past is not fair to you, the composer, or film music.

But I guess I've said enough already...off to greener topics.

Finally got to hear it all.

I kinda like all the music, but I guess my expectations were much higher. I will now wait to see the film.

For once (when it comes to Zimmer) I kind of agree with Christian's review over at Filmtracks.

Oh and a last point - Doesn't the track War give you the impression that the climax is just coming, at about 10 seconds from the end, before stopping and fading out. I sure hope that wasn't some silly edit for the album.

Just read Christian's review.... I think he was pretty much right, except I differ with him regarding this statement:

"Hans Zimmer's Pearl Harbor will likely be a deserving and frequent listen for many film score fans."

I think that once people see the film and have that theme drilled into their heads for over 2.5 hours, they'll put the CD away and opt to listen to something less numbing.

Well lad, you know what they say: Can't stand the heat, get out of the kichen.

When you choose to be a hypocrite you should have prepared yourself to face the consequences of your choice. I really got full of your juvenile bullshit and lack of taste.

So now think twice before you use my name on your senseless posts. I am sure there are plenty of other mindless teenagers like you around for you to chat.

    Now, piss off.

So, according to our friend Stevie's twisted logic anyone who don't like such crap as PEAL HARBOOM is a cynic... So those who actually like it are what? Dorks?

    Most probably.

Well, it's always better to be a cynical than a dork. But that's just me. Our little friend Stevie (aka Lancealot) obviously thinks the contrary...

And since when is exploding with profanity such as mother*&$^ and ass*&(*#, and calling me an alienated USAsian considered the mature way to retort? Sounds like you're the King of Hyprocrite Hill to me Andre.

    Sure, I'll take dork.

Andre--I know we'll probably never agree on the color of **** , but I'm asking you kindly to call me Steve, please. Not "Stevie". If you can do that. Just for the record. Thanks.

I've read two reviews...both siting the music (which is a rare occurrence).

Garth at Dark Horizons did not like the music, but Jeffrey Wells (a slightly more renown film guru) thought the music was a plus for the film, especially in the opening where there is simply black screen and the score playing.

BTW...there are no Touchstone or Bruckheimer logos in front of the film, just the black screen as I mentioned. Interesting for such a commercially driven film.

Aha! You are wrong: DORKS are those who worshipe such crap as PEARL HARBOR.

This makes you a perfect dork then, doesn't it Stephen?

And Quill: please, go to bed. I think it's too late for you to keep awake. You're obviously getting more and more confused.
Tomorrow you will meet again your USA-ian kindergarten dudes and them can keep chating your usual infantile alienated rhetoric.

Greetings from Bob Dole's Haunted Pleasure-Dungeon in fabulous Viagra Gulch, Kansas. Speaking on behalf of the pissed-off ghosts of Truman Capote and J. Edgar Hoover, I thrustfully object to Rutherford's characterization of Zimmermuzik as being "gay". PEARL HARBOR is gay like my butt chews gum. PEARL HARBOR happens to be strictly hetero and strictly for the birds. But more importantly, Shaun himself is a limp-wristed la-dee-dah fruity-toot who has to squat to pee.

Gosh darn that fiendish Shaun and his gratuitous fag-bashing. Just for that, I'm gonna program my Raymond Burr android to sit on Shaun's face. So *there*.

Okay, so I read this whole thread again, and I still think I'm right. Mission to Mars is a fantastic score. Shaun P-Whipped Rutherford states it doesn't work for him in the movie, but if we're talking about what would be appropriate for the film, then the score should have been fifty-minutes to the tune of some hobo relieving himself under an overpass. The point is moot. It's a fantastic score and that unfortunate debacle of a movie is justified by the fact that it gave Morricone the chance to write that gem of a score, so Shaun, your opinion is worth as much as Michael Gay's sailor epic which basically means it's worth ass, your opinion that is, so finally [insert Zimmer cheap-shotting here] oh, and bite my ass. That means you, Shaun.

...oh to be 15 all over again.
