Because of your insistence, I bought Ben Hur. Now that I have listened to the entire set, I cannot thank you enough.
To put it simply, this is a masterpiece. I love it. (And some cues near the end darn near brought tears to my eyes. )
    So anyhow, thank you!

John - you've convinced me. Next time I'm at the record store I'll pick it up.

I'm glad you got and loved Ben-Hur. Good for you JJ for keeping up the pressure. Now, if only the rest of you "Evan"s out there would get with the program.....

Bias alert!: Williams, Goldsmith, Horner, Zimmer, and the bunch. Not the cream, just the milk. I didn't own a single record of theirs until I had every Rozsa, Herrmann, Tiomkin, Korngold and Waxman record I could find.

    Long Live the Golden Age!!!!!!

Yeah, John. Glad you like Ben Hur. I don't know if any group of people could agree on the five best soundtracks EVER written. The criteria would be difficult to establish; however, I think almost all soundtrack collectors would place Ben Hur in the top five. Rozsa had a year and a half to write this huge score. Time helps, plus he visited sets and watched filming. This score sports so many wonderful themes and the lost art of melody.

    see?

if everyone held my opinions what a wonderful world this would be!

    hehe

Ben-Hur is simply the best $32 bucks (1996 dollars) I ever spent.

and I like how the trickle down thing is working...from JJ, to John, now to Camillu who SHAMEFULLY does not YET own this score. tsk tsk...

I will, nay, I MUST carry on the Golden Age torch! (cue Chariots of Fire).

now we need to consider what to push for next, John.

NP -- Cleopatra, North; a comparably great 2 CD set

I did not have internet back then, so I paid a slightly inflated price at a Tower Records store.

back then, you didn't dare see anything like that in west Texas (and you still don't -- musically challenged buyers).
