Less interested in this project now, I must admit. If Graeme can deliver some Pitch Black moments, however, I'll check it out.

Being a Power Rangers and Street Fighter veteran, (in retrospect) he seems like the obvious choice...

Revell IS an obvious choice, from the standpoint of the producers. But I'm also less interested in the project now.

I'm curious to hear what Revell came up with for the score, considering the short amount of time he had to write it.Also, didn't Shaun Rutherford mention that Revell was scoring this film back on May 1?

I was really upset to hear that Kamen was replaced. Graeme Revell is a good composer but, in my opinion, not in Kamen's league. Expect lots of tribal instruments. It'll be buried under sfx and songs anyway.

If it's anything like his latest score for Dune: The Mini-Series, we are all in for hell on earth.

DanLots of annoying below-average techno beats accompanied by cheap strings and a few brassy moments. Acceptable theme. Arabian influences.
One good thing about it though: it'll be one less CD to buy. Leaving more cash in my wallet to get some older stuff.

Well, it's nice to know people are so set in their minds as to what a composer will do that they will refuse to buy an album before even hearing a single note of score. Now if that's not closed-minded, I don't know what is.
I'm not saying that the score won't be everything you just said you think it will be, but at least give the guy a chance, eh?

Well, part of the problem is not Revell himself.
When given the time, and the inspiration, he can come up with some pretty good stuff. But given the nature of the film (implying that the money-hungry producers who couldn't care less about quality or artistic value will most likely force Revell to come up with cheap imitations of what he's done before), and considering what too often happens when a composer is replaced, (especially if the replacement composer is not as capable as the original choice) I can't say I'm expecting much from this score.

At that time, I had never even heard of Fenton or Goldenthal.
