I found this score for a TV film by Morricone for a good price. Has anyone heard it? The only online review I found was very favourable, but your opinions would help me decide. I would have just got it based on kerim's Theme and the fact thatit is Morricone, but I'm in a cash-flow crisis.

    Whaddya think?

Mark, "Sahara" is on my list of Morricone cds to pick up... from what I hear, it's excellent. Just ask Alex or Tim - they like to preach about it.

I believe there are 2. It's not 'Sahara' it's 'Secret of the Sahara'
The former is listed here at Moviemusic. The latter is reviewed over at Soundtrack Express.

Yes. Saharah is a different score than Secret of the Sahara.
The Secret of the Sahara, has some great themes, one of which you've already heard if you've heard Gladiator.
I remember there are some strange atmospheric parts where Morricone does some pretty original things with a large choir. I guess its safe to compare the whole score with Mission to Mars, but with no organs.

Oh also the sound quality is not that hot.

When I said "Sahara," I meant "Secret of Sahara" - I just didn't want to type the whole thing. I apologize for my laziness (or incompetence, one of the two). Morricone wrote two "Sahara" scores?

I've got "Sahara." While it's not your average Morricone score, pretty light and comedic with some dissonant action music, it is also below average. The only thing I enjoy about the score is the love theme which opens the album. Although it is sweeping and romantic, it seems somewhat hollow, much like the character it is written for, I'm sure.

    Get "Secret of Sahara."

SECRET OF THE SAHARA is indeed one of Morricone's finest (aren't them all?). Higly recomended, IF you like good film music...

And TimTim is right. If you saw GLADIATOR you've already listened to one of the finest themes from SECRET... HamZimmer shamelessly cloned it note by note.
