As those interested in computer games and Myst and Riven in particular probably know, the second Myst sequel, Exile, is coming out very soon.I checked the official site at www.myst3.com . The makers of the series have always provided interesting insight into their works, and also this time there's plenty of background information at the website. The music section contains a brief interview with composer Jack Wall, who talks a bit about scoring games and Exile in particular, which will use orchestral music.
He says:
I also like the scores to the Matrix (Don Davis), The Fifth Element (Eric Serra), and Waterworld (James Newton Howard). They each have elements that I think may fit nicely into the surreal worlds of Myst.I haven't heard Waterworld yet, but I find Serra's Fifth Element works very well in the film, and I am a big fan of Don Davis' Matrix score. Having stuff like this in a computer game (and the Myst series has a very high standards) is fascinating.
The download section has a trailer for download (yes, that's Brad Dourif at the end!
), and the bit of music sounds promising, though it doesn't say if this is original music by Michael Wall.I guess I'll have to wait until December to play the game though, because I'ld like to play the DVD version.

I forgot to mention: Looks like there will be a score CD, too!
I'm playing Riven again now. I finished Myst, but I never had the time to get far in Riven.

Wow, awesome stuff! They must have spent a lot of money on the score, even a live choir is there.NP: Myst III: Exil - Main Theme (Jack Wall)

Very cool! If the Main Theme is any indication of the score, it sounds like it'll be a good disc...Oh, and Bri? You might not want to wait for this... it's that good.

"Myst III" sounds GREAT! I can't wait. ANd the game even looks cool, I might pick it up sometime, I am trying to save money, not spend it all
Also, for Myst lovers, if you have not read the trigoly of "Myst" novels, I suggest you do. They are great fun to read and expand the "Myst" story.

According to music4games.net, in an interview with Jack Wall, he mentions there will be a soundtrack for Myst IV: Revelation. Looks like we're going to see another orchestral score with choral elements. Nice... Check out the interview here.
