I just love the 5 score tracks by HF on this soundtrack - Stolen Secrets, Love Theme, Thief Of Hearts, Collage and Final Confrontation. Stolen Secrets is a terrific up-tempo disco-like track, while the Love Theme is one of the coolest love themes ever written IMO, extremely melodic and well-produced.

This Bruckheimer-film was actually Faltermeyer's first ever solo Hollywood score, written the same year as Beverly Hills Cop. His banks of keyboards and electronics on the Thief Of Hearts score are massive, you can't even compare it to something like "Kuffs" (1992), which is clearly a worse score.

A pity HF survived in Hollywood for such a short time.

Any opinions on "Thief Of Hearts"?

Never was much of a fan of Thief Of Hearts, but of all the Bruckheimer composers I didn't want to drop off the face of the earth, Faltermeyer was the one. He wrote catchy themes.

So did Zimmer at one point in his early days.

Yes, I have 'THIEF OF HEARTS' as well and I like it a lot.
Some of it is even used in 'TOP GUN'.
A shame there isn't more score-music available from 'BEVERLY HILLS COP 1 AND 2'

There was a 45 rpm record single which came out at the time. It had the Beverly Hills Cop theme and the "Shoot Out" cue.

There were similar releases for Top Gun (includes Main theme and "Memories") as well as for Fletch (includes Main theme and some track about a skater, forgot the name).

Maybe Faltermeyer should do a compilation. Before he's completely forgotten.

I agree. I actually enjoy Rain Man and Black Rain (I like scores with a lot of rain in them.......).

I dislike The Running Man!!!! Just needed to get that out of my system.

Oh, and Shaun, how about Hard Rain? Like that one?

Hard Rain is pretty generic for Chris Young (the theme is decent, but I can't get Night Crossing out of my head every time I hear it). Lotsa temp-track boundaries in it, but well-recorded.
