I woke up this morning to hear that one of punk's true godfathers (and hey, he wrote the title track to "Pet Cemetary" if there must be a movie music connection) has died.

Joey Ramone was one of the coolest performers ever and was responsible for for so many bands ever being formed. Apparently he had been battling cancer for some time but most people didn't even know he was sick (I didn't). I'm bummed man! This sucks.

    He will be missed.

    (FYI, it's spelled: Pet Sematary)

well, anyone's death is sad, and I recognize many people loved his music, even if I didn't care for it. His group helped establish punk rock.

I wonder who would score a movie about the life of Joey Romano, err Ramone. Should the film simply use classic Ramones tunes, or should a grieving Ramone family member write a tribute score? It could be cool. Long live punk rock. RIP JR.

Joe Strummer would score it. Take THAT!

Rock N Roll High School is one of the great fun films and was willing to go where Heathers would not by actually destroying the high school. Joey Ramone was a key "role model" in both that film and to friends of mine who were teens in the late 70s. There were greater punk bands than the Ramones of course but their cover of 'Do You Wanna Dance' which they sing in RNRHS was one of the great jams of that time. I'll miss Joey but not as much as P J Soles.....

I never got to see The Ramones live and now I never will. That sucks. Nobody is making a big deal out of it either. I've only seen minor stories. When Kurt Cobain killed himself, the whole world seemed to stop for a few weeks. There probably wouldn't have been a Nirvana without Joey and the Ramones. I guess he needed to shoot himself for anybody to give a **** . That sucks!

Joey's brother Nicky played U2's In A Little While at Joey Ramone's bedside, apparently the song faded as Joey left this mortal coil!

Not surprisingly The Ramones were big here in the U.K. before they caught on in the U.S.!

    Goodnight Joey.

Roomie was genuinely in tears at this news ... his ex-wife actually telephoned him with it (talk about insult to injury). He thinks punk rock saved his life ...

R.I.P. Mr. Ramone (birth name Jeffrey Hyman, but REAL name, as roomie insists, Joey Ramone.)

I just recently got into that U2 song. Now every time I listen to it I'll be doubly depressed.

I don't think P J Soles is dead. Blame my poor syntax. Her character in RNRHS was so into Joey Ramone that I'm sure that charcter is heartbroken now.
