Intrada's Roger Feigelson sent out a list of new releases today. I got a big kick out of it.quote:

The biggest news I came across a couple of days ago is George Lucas' decision not to have John Williams score the next STAR WARS installment. It came as a shock, especially with the composer he selected to succeed Williams: Ennio Morricone. And it wasn't his score to MISSION TO MARS that turned Lucas's mind, but rather an older work:
THE MISSION. After watching the film recently, Lucas apparently thought it was time to take the sound of the film in a different direction. What Morricone did for THE MISSION just clicked a light on. It'll be interesting to hear what Morricone does, but I'm convinced that only John Williams can score a STAR WARS movies.

I don't know where Roger got the news from, but Eric Serra IS going to score Star Wars Ep. 2: The Force Within, NOT Morricone!

A Morricone Star Wars score would be great, though. If you thought Organs in Space was bad....

No, no, no, that's not correct, I heard that they were going to score SWII with music outtakes from Plan 9 From Outer Space.I also heard that they had just bought the rights to John Carpenter's "Benson, Arizona" (used as the main and end title music in "Dark Star") for the opening title crawl in SWII.

Morricone isn't going to score Episode II and III! I wouldn't even watch the movies if anyone other than the Master was scoring . By the way, Lucasfilm has yet to annouce the name of the film. George Lucas is probably the only person who knows what the true name of the film.I just learned that the film is still in the later portion of production. They are filming some extra scenes in England. I guess its safe to assume the visual effects guys and gals are hard at work in California.

AMEN Aaron, I wouldn't dare step into a theatre to see someone else (replacement that is) other than Williams score a Star Wars movie.By the way has anyone seen the new picture of Palpatine from Episode II on the latest cover of the Star Wars Insider? Very cool and menacing.

...I'd still see the movie say... if McNeely scored it. He'd do a fine job, though this is ground already treaded, so I'll stop talking now.Jeron

I think JAMES HORNER should be hired if John Williams is unable to compose...
