Yeah, so I'm like 13 hours early, big deal right?

FYI: REMEMBER TO SET YOUR CLOCKS FORWARD (Brian and everyone else looses an hour of sleep, damn)

I'm only getting: "Beyond Rangoon" by Hans Zimmer

My B-Day is in May so that's why I'm not getting a bunch of CDs

Hehe, I already know what I'm getting in May, June, July and August heheehhahaahahah

Last purchase of March, first purchase of April, depending on what part of the world you're in.

    -Battle Of Britain (Goodwin)

I'm feeling a sudden urge to also pick up the remaining Rykodisc titles I didn't get before since it's now clear they've discontinued producing new ones. Pity.

While, I have been trying not to buy too much lately, it has not really worked out that way. Most likely it will get worse over the next several weeks, with such releases like The Mummy Returns, Along Came a Spider, Aliens: The Deluxe Edition and Pearl Harbor coming up.

Isn't being an film music fan just grand?! Well, my wallet doesn't think so, but that is an different matter altogether!

    Anyway, so far this month...

Ultima IX: Ascension - George Oldziey

Rather good! Though, hard to describe. If you like VG scores, get it!

--] It's new Goldsmith! I'm in Goldsmithland... la la la!

The New Moon in the Old Moon's Arms (Kamen)
--] WOW! Kamen has written a beautiful and exciting symphony. I can't compliment the one enough...

    Frank Herbert's Dune (Revell)
--] As a whole it's uninteresting... but it does have it's moments...

    Chocolat (Portman)

    New stuff from Soundtrackers:

Enemy At The Gates, Horner (I'd already heard this score, and I don't like it very much on the whole, but the track Vassli's Fame Spreads is great, so I had to get the CD)
Wonderland, Nyman (have heard little to nothing about this, except that JJ said is was only a notch below The Claim. Considering that The Claim is fantastic, Wonderland can't be bad.)
The Shawshank Redemption, Newman (saw the film a couple years back, and finally got around to getting the score.)
The Caveman's Valentine, Blanchard (based on clips and the suite TimT posted in the "Best score so far this year is..." thread.)

NP: Enemy At The Gates, Horner ***

After basically a year without getting any CD (short on money, I guess), I just ordered four! Woohoo.... Well, they're in the mail, should receive them this week. And they are:

    - THE CAVEMAN'S VALENTINE (Terence Blanchard)
    - THE MEXICAN (Alan Silvestri)
    - IN DREAMS (Elliot Goldenthal, my very first Goldenthal score :)
    - TV SOUNDTRACKS (W. G. Snuffy Walden)

I hope I made some good choices.... As you can see, the selections are pretty diverse: madness on the piano, mocking trumpet solos, madness on the entire orchestra (including sax!), and soothing guitar.

    Kosh

P.S.: (added April 12th) I just received the four CDs this morning, and I ordered them Monday. So, to everyone in Canada, again I have to preach for HMV.com and its incredible service :)

Got the whole package off ebay for some $70.

NP: Evangelion: Refrain, Various (the last track has a bunch of silence, then someone says, in english, "this is the fourteenth song". At that point, the cast of Eva starts singing "Fly Me To The Moon" in a rather disjointed manner before breaking off chuckling. Caught me by surprise. )

I just bought Requiem for A Dream and Brian Eno's Music for Airports.

RFAD is amazing. One of the best scores in years in my opinion(I like scores that take chances, are different, original, and powerful) RFAD is fresh, and sad. I love it.

I love, love, love Eno's Apollo cd. It has Acsent(An Ending) which was used in th end of Traffic and is truly a great cd, especailly to write to and to just gel out. Music for Airports is a let down. Hailed as a classic, I despise it. More or less noise, trying to be smart, but nI respect it. Not nearly as good as apollo though, which has actual songs.
