You are really into Anime huh?

That's great! Let me know how you like this stuff, and if you want I can make some recommendations. Escaflowne is a great choice though. And from the few episodes I have seen of Irresponsible Captain Tylor, it looks good to.
On the "bad news" side of things. You might want to check out some info on that Captain Tylor set. From what I have heard, there is a defective disc within it. At least one chapter is missing on disc 4 IIRC.

Where are you people getting these things?Anyways more new stuff this month.

Star Trek TMP - Jerry Goldsmith

The sad thing is that I just started collecting pretty recently and about 99% of the scores I have are ones that were bought commercially, so theres not really much that I would be able to get 'trade wise'.

Well, when I started trading, I didn't have boots, either - I never BOUGHT a boot. I do CDR trades on a "one disc for one disc" base, so I might well get a boot for a copy of a regular CD. I pay so much for official releases already that I don't have problems with getting some as CDR copies (I couldn't and wouldn't spend more money on original discs, anyway). You'll always find someone who can't find a score that's available in every store near you, and who'd be happy to do a trade.NP: Close Encounters of the Third Kind (John Williams)

Am I? I hadn't noticed.

As for Tylor, my last disc seems fine... fom what I understand, the missing chapter is only in the Vol.4 disc if you buy it seperately...?
I don't know.Anyway, already have Escaflowne (and Evangelion) on VCD, but I want to replace those with the DVDs. I just got the VCDs because neither series is completely released on DVD yet.
As for recommendations... I don't know if I want any. My wallet is getting very light, very fast.
Okay, go ahead and give me some.
Oh, and new today:

"Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace" -- Robert Folk
"Life With Mikey" -- Alan Menken
"Beethoven's 2nd" -- Randy Edelman
"Shipwrecked" -- Patrick Doyle (this one I actually found new for ten dollars. Doyle's one of my favorite composers and I know this disc is pretty hard to find so, needless to say, I'm pretty happy I found it so cheap).--Jason S.

NOTHING....this month the first one in years that I haven't purchased a single score.I'm holding out for next month...when long-awaited scores begin to arrive. I'm still considering picking up the Mexican and Along Came a Spider, but I've been too lazy to go and get them.
Did pickup Space Cowbots and Men of Honor on DVD...nicely packaged discs and good movies to boot.

I have Escaflowne on tape, but have only seen the Evangelion movie. Talk about confusing as hell. People told me to see the series first, but I did not bother. Well, even those who see the show first are too, so I guess it does not matter.

Recommendations? What type of genre do you like?
Otherwise, have you seen Macross Plus, Giant Robo or Record of Lodoss War? Many great choices. Too many in fact!

Oh, indeed it DOES matter! As I said a few days ago elsewehere, I don't see how anyone who HADN'T seen the show would have even a hope of comprehending the films. Since I saw the show, I did understand a lot of what was happening. Some of it I didn't, but mainly that's in the details.

Well, it's not that I have not had the chance to do so. I just never been much interested in doing so. About a year or two ago, I did a trade with another anime fan, and he sent me the whole series of that and Escaflowne. However, the quality was so bad, I never saw but the first few minutes of Episode 1. An local PBS station of all places had been broadcasting it as well. So, I had seen enough to enjoy it, just not enough to fully understand it.
Fortunately, Escaflowne was near perfect, and am planning on go out and getting the DVD' ASAP. As well the Evangelion film and series. Well, eventually!

Anyway, I was not totally confused by the film. However, for the most part even seeing the TV series won't help in regards to the majority of the film. I have heard that the drastic change in story and pace at the end of the series put off quite a few of the show's fanbase, and their demands for closure made the film possible. Though, the director still kept it rather similar, with the events that take place.

Gundam Wing and Record of Lodoss War are two of my favorites. Musically, they are quite good as well. All I can suggest to you is, keep checking out the selection at Blockbuster, and find ones that you think you'll enjoy. That is exactly what I have done and it works extremely well, so you don't buy something you won't like.

I really have no idea! Though, considering how many imports CD' are available for CT (at least 8 IIRC), this should be a nice way to get the major cues from the series'. The price for both is only about $25, so it is cheap enough for those who like the music, to do so.

While, I don't know much about the series or music, I did decided to order them. Though, that is more for the opening/ending credit songs. Which, I have loved from seeing an occasional episode. The score I am afraid, I don't know much about, though remember liking it.
In any case, I am looking forward to see what other anime soundtracks ADV releases!

Ever since seeing this film over Christmas vacation, I knew I had to have both film and score. While, I did get a CD-R of the score the other month. It is nice both are on this single DVD.
This might be a family film, but it is a fun family film. One that has emotion, drama and comedy all in one package. All in all, a great diversion to forget the hassles of every day life. I really must read the book!

BTW, anyone know why there was not a score-only release? What a shame!
