    Hi all,

While listening to the Main Titles of 'Chicken Run', I have been
wondering what that strange wind-type instrument is. It reminds me of a little plastic toy we used to have as kids. I think they were called bazookas.

Does anyone have an idea of what instrument is used to achieve that sound?

    Regards,
    Rochelle

It's a choir of (16, I believe) kazoos (far less dangerous than bazookas ). In one of the making-of's on the DVD, you can even see a short glimpse of the kazoo choir in action.

Yes indeed! Much safer than 16 bazookas. Ha ha.

On the way back from the Friday Detroit concert last year, we were forced to travel about thirty feet into an oncoming lane to reach the awkward parking garage entrance. "This part would be scored with kazoos," Mark Hatfield observed. I laughed for about five minutes.

Rochelle, sounds like a kazoo. Glad to have you hear with us. That is one great score. There are several cues on it I really like. Antz is really good too. Best, John.

    Hi all,

I just wanted to add that I was not out of mind...

Here is the bazooka (kazoo) that I was referring to: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1422813885

Also to add...that was not the exact instrument I had twenty years ago as a kid.

I had a small plastic kazoo. However, this ad suggests that at some time - they may have been referred to as Bazookas. Non?

    Your thoughts please.

    Regards,
    Rochelle

    Fact of the day:

You don't blow into a kazoo, you hum.

Sounds only logical to me: Bazookas blow, and kazoos are hummed.
