First with the Total Recall disc, and now with the upcoming Aliens expanded CD. It looks like this could very easily become an new portion to Varèse' release schedule over the upcoming years. So, out of the titles they have released thus far, which ones do you want to see get this treatment?
For myself, the following are ones I have that I'd like to see expanded upon.
Air Force One - Jerry Goldsmith/Joel McNeely
Conan the Barbarian - Basil Poledouris
Conan the Destroyer - Basil Poledouris
Dracula - John Williams
Executive Decision - Jerry Goldsmith
Explorers - Jerry Goldsmith
The Fury - John Williams
Masada - Jerry Goldsmith
The Matrix - Don Davis
Robocop - Basil Poledouris
Scream 1/2 - Marco Beltrami
Small Soldiers - Jerry Goldsmith
Soldier - Joel McNeely
Starship Troopers - Basil Poledouris
U.S. Marshals - Jerry GoldsmithThere are so many choices, any I miss?

Interesting choices Sabbey, but to me Conan is near complete and doesn't really need to be expanded that much. The others well, we'll definetly have to wait a while for them to be released. Here's my wish list:A Perfect Murder (James Newton Howard)
Die Hard 2 (Michael Kamen)
Malice (Jerry Goldsmith)
Gremlins 2 (Jerry Goldsmith)
Hot Shots! Part Deux (Basil Poledouris)
Sudden Death (John Debney)
Chain Reaction (Jerry Goldsmith)
Outbreak (James Newton Howard)
Just Cause (James Newton Howard)
Dead Again (Patrick Doyle)
Executive Decision (Jerry Goldsmith)
Lifeforce (Henry Mancini)
The Siege (Graeme Revell)
The Sixth Sense (James Newton Howard)
Deep Blue Sea (Trevor Rabin)
For Love of the Game (Basil Poledouris)
Mercury Rising (John Barry and Carter Burwell)
Terminator 2 Judgment Day (Brad Fiedel)
Flesh And Blood (Basil Poledouris)
No Way Out (Maurice Jarre)posted 03-24-2001 10:10 PM PT (US)

You have made some great choices as well. Some of which I would have chosen as well, if I had known how much was left off each of the albums, and in some cases if I had heard the score!
For the most part, I was trying to stick to scores that were "short changed" when the original release came out. Either way, I bet there are way too many choices that could be made.
Even though, it was because of re-use fees, the one that needs it the most IMO, is Air Force One! Flesh + Blood would be nice too!

Sabbey, the exact same thread topic has been on my mind for two days!
Islanders, while I love the Dead Again score, and there's a bit of unreleased music, too, I think the missing cues are very similar to those on the album. I'd rather have an expanded Frankenstein with all source music cues, but that's not up to Varese.
Starship Troopers would be great, but there seems to be a chance that the DVD re-release might have an iso score.
What about a remastered Final Conflict that doesn't sound like it was recorded in a bathroom?

THE FURY...oh yes...definately!
...and Mercury Rising, just for that great Burwell action track

You guys probably know that I'm trying to become a Jerry Goldsmith completist. So I'm all for expanded Goldsmith stuff! Air Force One and Small Soldiers were both too short. They should be re-released. I'm slowly becoming a fan of Don Davis and his version post-minimalism so I would like to see a bigger scoretrack The Matrix.

Yeah, there's much great stuff missing on the official Matrix album. I'm hoping to continue the work on my expanded disc (from DVD iso score) soon.Fury - there's not much missing I believe. It would be interesting to have the original recording, but I think the re-recording that's available works better as standalone music.

hey, how about scores that never got releases?like about half of Carter Burwell's output.
Fear, Mystery, Alaska, Two Bits, Waterland, and others
on a somewhat related note:buy North's Cleopatra dammit!
Three immediate benefits:
1. You may actually discover a new composer
2. Strong sales help justify new deluxe releases of older scores (and maybe longer releases of NEW scores...)
3. Helps out the economy.

Er... some of the scores mentioned here are complete or fairly complete. ROBOCOP contains pretty much the entire score, same with THE FURY. There just isn't any more music in those films (perhaps a snippet or so, I won't watch 'em again now just to double check... but hardly enough to warrant a re-release).A remastered FINAL CONFLICT would be nice, though. The CD has all the music, but the sound quality is poor. I am, however, afraid that this has to do with the quality of the master tape than with the CD mastering.

It is missing a number of short cues and the music that builds up to Jerry's big finale. It would run over an hour if it was complete. Definitely needs to be remastered...

First with the Total Recall disc, and now with the upcoming Aliens expanded CD.The one thing both scores have in common are that they were recorded in England. Don't expect to see any domestic recordings given the expanded treatment (unless it's a huge blockbuster like Jaws) because Varese would have to pay re-use fees.

If money were no object, I'd LOVE the complete score to "Small Soldiers". Get the guy from the Joe Dante website to do the liners (with a quick polish from Kevin Mulhall), get Matt Peak to do the cover art, you've got an all-time best seller.

Out of the above I think Dracula is the one I most await! And "Monsignour"..
I think The Fury was a re-recording so probably not any more music available (althought the CD did add track not on the LP)...
An expanded "Starship Troopers" would be welcome too - which reminds me - anyone got the (correct) track listing for the boot? It doesn't make a lot of sense!

Varese is pretty smart here. First they release a lot of 30 min or so in length soundtracks. Later, when they know which soundtrack sells good, they make an expanded release. C'mon Varese S!NP: Chill Factor, Zimmer (****/*****)

I didn't think the re-use fees were prohibitive.
