Since last year the Academy showcased great songs throughout the ages (the bit where Burt Bacharach, Faith Hill, Garth Brooks etc. performed), I have had this little hope all year long that this year they'll do something similar with film music.

Sort of an expansion on the short Williams thingy done at the Grammys a couple of years ago.

    Here's hoping.

    ....a year later.....

Maybe with Williams on board this is more of a possibilty.

    Here's hoping.

You all know your favorite Oscar moment will be when Debbie Allen will have her dancers do a number tap dancing to the nominees for Best Score.

<<cut to close up of Debbie Allen...tears in her eyes...hands clasped together...so proud of this moment>>>

This will undoubtably be the part of the program when John Williams will take a break from the podium and run to the nearest sound proof booth so as not to hear his music massacred. He will be joined by Howard Shore, Randy Newman and James Horner. Oh wait...no room for Horner...so he has to suffer. At least Charlotte Church and Celine Dion will hold his hands and tell him it will all be over shortly.

One cue I thought was missing was Raiders of the Lost Ark - but I guess Williams felt bad about playing four of his scores...

I found it great that he honored Goldsmith by playing Patton, even though it didn't win an Oscar.

Does anyone have a video clip of this medley, or know where I can find one online? I was listening to the mp3 recently and I got all nostalgic...
