Uh-oh!, I've pulled another "Jeron" as Jonathan Little likes to describe it! Last year when U-571 came out, I took a tape recorder into the theater and recorded a couple cues, transferred them to the computer, then posted them for download.I didn't do quite the same thing here, but I was tinkering around the Atlantis website and noticed some new music accompanying all the neat Macromedia Flash stuff. I've recorded it and converted it to MP3 format for download.
I've received news from the front lines that JNH has composed a terrific score - and this small sample proves precisely that. I'm really looking forward to it - and I know many of you are, as well. Hopefully this will tide us over until the album's release date.
Enjoy!

Atlantis Sample 2 <-- click here!Sample 2 is identical to sample 1, but is mixed with the teaser trailer music.

Are you absolutely sure this was composed by JNH?The short excerpts certainly sound great. And they're almost obviously by JNH.
Then again, some people are renowned for mimicking other composers.
But if this is the score, then the soundtrack promises to be very good.

Good post Jeron...wasn't looking forward to this score until I heard these. I should've known it would be good with JNH composing though

I remember seeing somebody at Filmtracks recently post on how this was from "Rising Sun" by some Asian composer and not in fact JNH... Everybody agreed, so I'm not sure what to think, it definately sounds like JNH... hopefully it is, for it sounds great.NP: Deep Blue Sea **/*****

It sounds like JNH. Besides, like Jeron said, right from the "front lines."

that "Asian composer" is Toru Takemitsu, who was a well-respected name in both film and classical circles.posted 03-21-2001 09:36 AM PT (US)

However respected his work may be both past and present, this was in fact the most boring soundtrack I've ever owned. Every piece of the score was the same four different chords and orchestrations every single track for eight of the 14 or however many tracks there were. It took me two years to sell it off at used book stores. Sadly, I was quite disappointed in it. JNH would have been far better for the film. And has done far better work than that score.
I'm certain there are those who will disagree with me. But theonly thing on that cd worth keeping it for, which could be easily replaced by work by KODO, for example, was the two tracks by Seichi Tanaka and the San Francisco Taiko Dojo. Most specifically, the last track, "Tsunami", which sounds like one! After seeng the trailer, I am eager to see the film, and perhaps buy the score. Until then, Waterworld will have to tide me over.

It is JNH. Chris (Widescreen), JJ, and Jason are all going off on a tangent about another composer.PS - Chris! I got your e-mail! I'll get back to you, I promise!
