It seems that Ford must have seen this post and then he sent an email out to the Soundtrack Mag mailing list telling us to buy it somewhere else.quote:
No, this isn't a plug for this website, it's just the lowest we've discovered

Jonathan, you could be on to something! I noticed the link to this site is no longer up in the links section of Soundtrack Magazine's website either! Holy Disappearing Links, Batman! What are we gonna do?

LOL! Ford submitted this review for Cleopatra today:-------------------------------------------
Five Stars
Favorite Track: 22
http://*********.com/surf/disps/344304It's much cheaper then what they sell it
here for.-------------------------------------------
He used this email address:betterprices@freespeech.com
LOL. If I recall correctly, isn't Ford the one who always demands everyone use their real email addresses instead of hiding behind fake ones? If so, man, I think he needs some of his own medicine!
Nice review, anyway. 10% of it is mis-spelled.

So SPAM really stands for Soundtrack Purveyors Against Moviemusic.com?Personally, I'd rather spend some extra bucks here and help keep the power and lights on. It wouldn't shock me if the other place is selling below cost to establish a customer base. But some things are more important than money, and loyalty is one of those things.

It's also about service. When it comes to price, you eventually get what you pay for. I see cheap-cds.com (Ford's favorite place to shop) has no copies in stock, and hasn't yet. For those who ordered Cleopatra from MM over the weekend, it's already been mailed. Thumbs up!Wait. Does Ford buy CDs?

I agree with Jack - usually it's about loyalty, and that's why I tend to buy my DVDs from Buy.com - because their service has been consistently good, even if their prices aren't always the cheapest. In regards to cheap-cds.com, it seems that they don't list it as being "in stock" because it doesn't officially come out until tomorrow. But you can still order it.... though who knows when you'd get the album.
Still, it's pretty cheap considering shipping etc.... and $10 goes a long way these day.

I always consider the loyalty factor. That's why even if a certain self-important person (and I won't say who, Ford) sells a CD extremely cheaper than I can get it here, I'll still but it here. For 4 reasons: Trust. Honor. Loyalty. Intergrity.
PK has earned this from me. Nobody else has (in fact, I don't know if "Mr." Ford even knows what it means).
As to this "cheap-cds.com?" I checked it out (for non-movie music). Their best prices on CDs are still higher than what my local Best Buy has the same music for.
And PK: You should know that Ford doesn't buy CDs! He threatens people with bad reviews, slander and such unless they pony up the requested disc.
In fact, let's all take our "Produced by Ford Thaxton" CDs and throw them away! Use them for target practice (
Which I've actually done with old scratched LPs)! Kevin

Granted I'm somewhat biased because Ford is a friend but I grow weary of reading all these potshots at Ford, especially considering the fact that he can't respond to any of them. Pete, if you're going to let people slag him, at least give him a chance to respond.

So, it's OK if Ford takes potshots at us... but if we take potshots at Ford, it's bad?
I have a certain post etched into my mind regarding Ford Thaxton. A while ago somebody asked, "What's the phone number to FSM?" Ford replied with some sort of put down that was really crude.

Well, that was back when Ford was able to post, and could attack and defend at will. Now he can't defend.Anyways, in regards to the FSM thing, Ford's reply basically consisted of pointing out (bluntly, I admit) that you could find their phone number in many places, from their magazine, or their website. It snowballed from there, but I didn't see any "crude" putdown.
Unless saying "none of this takes a great deal of effort either" (in regards to finding the phone #) is insulting.

You reap what you sow, no? If people want to complain about SoundtrackMag's latest email to its "subscribers," they will! Whether they do it here or anywhere else is up to them. The timing and intention behind the email and subsequent behavior of the individual in question is very obvious, as has been mentioned. As a result, I am not surprised what people have said in the least.Like I said from the very beginning of this thread: I don't care WHERE you get this soundtrack, just get it. Listen to it, and free your mind of the mildly retarded ways of the earth!
Can we talk about Cleopatra? For all those who've not seen it, a huge 3 DVD set is coming in April, which includes an awesome 2 hour documentary on the film (also showing on the American Movie Classics cable channel soon).
Is this Alex North's best score?

Actually, (and you'll probably get a lot of "ban him" requests because of my opinion), but I hate this score. If I ever get it, it will only be because I like the movie so much.Otherwise, the music may be big and loud, but I don't like it. I find it repulsive and Stravinskian. Since I don't like Stravinski (ban me!, ban me!), it's hard to enjoy something so reminiscent of his style.
In fact, if anyone's interested, my personal belief (and I put that in bold, before someone thinks I'm stating a fact) is that Alex North is one of the, if not THE, most overrated composer who ever worked for Hollywood.

Like I said, it's just my opinion...
Which of course does not exclude the possibility of buying Cleopatra (or any other North score, if I like the movie). But it's not going to be a top priority.

Tomorrow's release of the soundtrack will be a happy and exciting day for me as I at last do what I've always wanted to do to my 76 minute (non-Tsunami) bootleg. The DVD release alas, will not be as exciting a day as I hoped because of some disquieting info I learned today courtesy of Variety's review of it. Amidst this three disc set filled with all kinds of extras in sight, these moronic boneheads at Fox Video forgot something. They left the Exit Music out completely. And on top of that the Entr'acte is at the end of Disc 1 and not the beginning of Disc 2!
Yet another DVD boneheaded glitch ruining a potentially great transfer.

I know how you feel. All I can suggest is that if you have the laser disc set, keep that for watching the film itself, and use the DVD only for the extras and if not, then I guess just hit pause after "The End" and pop in the CD Exit Music on another system.

It only took me three stores, but I found a copy on the day of release! And right now as I listen to it in all its magnificence, I'm wondering with amusement how many creative ways there are to destroy a copy of the boot?
More good news to report on the DVD. Fox is now aware of the screwup and will fix it promptly. Nothing can be done about discs that come out on the release date but henceforth all new ones will have the Exit Music, and customers will be able to make exchanges. This is a first class response on their part and high praise should be given to them.
