You are in luck! As a Poledouris fan, I have every single one of these and can provide you with consistent opinions! On Deadly Ground: Nice action score, with a good theme. Bits of it are very good, bits of it are average, bits of it are a little hard to get into. ***½
Hot Shots Part Deux: Two words: Very fun.****
Lassie: Beautiful theme here. Should be mentioned more often, but is sadly overlooked by many. There's some rousing adventure-type music too, in the tracks The Diary/Wolf Attack, Lassie Protects The Herd, and Lassie Save Matt. A must for any Poledouris fan. ****
The Jungle Book: The action music is good, but I always found the rest of it a bit dull. Still, it's worth it for the last two tracks alone. ***
Serial Mom: Some very nice stuff in this score. Good theme, energetic action/chase music. Unfortunately, there are sections of dialogue in the tracks. It doesn't obscure any music, but it's very annoying and breaks the mood of the score. I recommend doing what I did: Ripping the tracks to WAVE format, editing out the dialogue, and burning the resulting score onto a CDR. Score ****. Album: **½
Big Wednesday: Would be good, except for the fact that the sound quality on the Soundtrack Library boot is poor. Quick, irritating fades, occasional hiss, and assorted pops distract from an otherwise enjoyable score. Score ***½. Boot **
Flight of the Intruder: has a nice theme, and some good parts. Not bad, but nothing fantastic. ***
There ya go! Hope that helps!

I enjoy Poledouris work and those aren't his best to tell you the truth. But they are definetly worth a listen. I would love to hear Big Wednesday, which I've been hearing for years that Poledouris would love to re-record this score with a bigger orchestra.
But here's my two cents:On Deadly Ground:a really good action score that deserves a longer album and the Varese album is only scratching the surface.
Lasse:Very romantic and quiet. It would be the table setter for his score to Amanda.
Hot Shots! Part Deux:I want more LOL this score so enjoyable, I'm pretty sure Poledouris wouldn't mind working with Jim Abrahams and company again if there's a Hot Shots 3. I wish...
Jungle Book:It's alright with some wonderful action music and a nice romantic theme. But it sounds at times like Patrick Doyle. (The original person on this project was you guessed it Jerry Goldsmith)
Flight of the Intruder:I love the fanfare march and it has some really good action music. The boot is worth getting for the theme. it's lovely.
Serial Mom:I wish they'd done a better job with the album. The score is wonderful and deserves a better fate. I'd recomend what John said.
And here are some other Poledouris scores I highly recommend:Quigley Down Under
Under Siege 2
Flesh And Blood
No Man's Land
Conan the Barbarian
Conan the Destroyer
Hunt for Red October
Robocop

Not to leave out the magnificient Starship Troopers (which BTW is one of the best-sounding discs in my collection, as well). Also, Kimberly is a beautiful quiet score.

The usual suspects... Intrada, Screen Archives, Super Collector... Or you might be able to trade with someone for it.

Hey John and New York Islanders,Thanks so much for your help! I'll be taking your advice. I'm still wondering about Hot Shots Part Deux- what's so much fun about it? I haven't seen the film since it was in theaters in 93...
Thanks again,

Well, Hot Shots! Part Duex wasn't really as much fun as the first one, movie wise. But the score is... well, I don't quite know how to put it other than "fun." It has all the typical Poledouris style, but instead of being dark, like so many of his other scores, it comes out as an over-the-top, exuberantly playful ride.NP: Leviathan, Jerry G

"Hot Shots! Part Deux" is one of Poledouris's best, IMHO. The action music in "Reel 5" (with harmonica!) and "Dipsong Fight" is terrific, and "Saddam Battles/Freedom Fighters" features some of the most triumphant music I've ever heard.Rating: *****/*****
