If the music at the beginning if Elfman's, its going to rule. And so will the movie, I think Burton has done great with the project.

Andre is just saying that he doesn't have good taste when it comes to movies (only kidding, Andre, but I happened to love both films).

Say what you will about Tim Burton as a director (I happen to think he's one of the finest ones in Hollywood, and, if and when I finally declare my major as film making, he's one of the directors that will have a huge influence on my films.), nobody can argue his creative and imaginative talent. The scenery and art design are always incredible in his films.

As for the Planet of the Apes trailer, all I can say is...wow. Even if I wasn't a huge Tim Burton fan, I still think the movie looks incredible. I'll definitely be seeing this one. Also, I can't wait to hear Elfman's score.

BATMAN and SLEEPY HOLLOW are awful movies.

Tim Burton is not a movie director, more like a bizarre painter or a freak show entertainer.

He did only two good movies: ED WOOD (not by coincidence scored by Howard Shore) and NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS - two movies where he finally left his hysterical freak show aside and worried about storytelling...

Maybe he did it right again with this PLANET OF THE APES remake. Maybe even Elfman will be able to provide a decent score for a change. Who knows? Lets wait and see...

Sorry, but I don't see anything in this teaser - except the design - that gives me an impression of how the final film will be, unless it's an action film. I don't know the novel, but the original film version was a brilliant satire, and if the new version is going to be a satire as well, there's nothing at all in the teaser to show that.

To put it with André's words (his post wasn't here when I started to write my above one), this teaser is indeed nothing else than a freak show.

(But many teasers and trailers are freak shows, this doesn't say anything about what the film will be like)

Ok, but that's the entire point of a "teaser"- to make you want to know more about the film. Most teasers have very little dialogue. The actual trailer will tell you what the film is like. Nonetheless, I highly doubt this POTA is going to be anything like the first one. It may be somewhat satirical, but I have a feeling it will mostly odd and actiony with lots of eye-candy- and I for one can't wait!

Anybody want to guess how many times Andre will mention that Ed Wood is Burton's only good movie and score between now and 2 months after the film is released? I'm guessing 1836 times. The winner gets a free ham.

Sure, it's just that if the film is what I expect it to be, the teaser suggests something different. Less action and a simple voice-over instead might have been better.

I don't want the film to be a simple remake of the old one, but I do want it to be a satire. Action & eye-candy? A bit, as "additional features", but if this is going to be an action flick, I'm disappointed. Sounds a bit like having Jerry Bruckheimer remaking Citizen Kane.

Andre: U bash Denky Elfmoon all u want!! Im counting on it! Me give away ham!! Have fun!

Marian: I'm no Hollywood insider, but I think the purpose of a teaser is to get people interested in the film and want to know more about it. Its purpose is to create a buzz. Most teasers for summer blockbusters I've seen cram as much as they possibly can show you in the span of 30 seconds. I really think you should wait for the actual trailer before you make judgements about what you think the film is going to be like. I hope you're right , though. I really hope the film is more than just action...

Looks just another Tim Burton freak show.

More like "Pee Wee Herrman meets the Apes".

Oh, yes. Looking nice. Not worried too much about teaser just showing action. That's kind of what Teasers are about. From Mr. Burton, this isn't going to be a pure action film at all.
I have the feeling I'm going to enjoy this film a lot.
Although I think I'm fairly unusual among Burton fans, in that I think that Batman is his worst film to date.
Went to see Sleepy Hollow 9 times on big screen. Hadn't had new Burton for almost 4 years. Not a good time. At least this one's coming along a bit sooner.

np Halloween H20 (Ottman rejected score)

I really do feel very sad reading the bitchy side swiping that's going on here. Can't you guys just appreciate a movie without the attitude?
What the hell makes you qualified to make such broad dismissive remarks? How many films have you made? What was the last movie you produced? When did you last hire a director? Who did you approach to score your movie? What creative thought processes did you put into your creation? How many years did you spend in pre-production hell? How many hours did you spend in an editing suite?

I didn't spend any of any, but I sure as hell would not even contemplate making such childish, nay infantile, dismissive remarks that some of you are coming out with. Who the <expletive deleted> do you think you are?

I loved the original Apes movies and TV series and what I saw of the teaser trailer, I'm pretty damned excited about this new movie. I'll be going with an OPEN mind and I sure as hell won't be wearing any blinkers.

    Grow the hell up.

    Welcome Greg...

And Andre...please be nice to the newcomer. I think he does have a valid point...so many of us are overly critical of movies without being qualified to do so. I can find some level of enjoyment is most movies I see, but I do not feel I am qualified or justified to tear apart a film, its director, composer, etc. You know, Schindler's List was an exceptional movie that bored me to tears (as did the score). I'll say I didn't enjoy it, and leave it at that.

Well I can say with the exception of Goldsmith's wonderful score I really didn't care for the first version of Planet of the Apes even though it is a classic well made film. So I really have little interest in this one. And the fact that it is a re-make makes me wonder why can't we leave classics alone and come up with original ideas for a change.

I think we overhype and expect way too much from movies these days. You can't judge a movie by a trailer because they can go just the opposite of what you were expecting.

the only question I have is did this film really need to be made in the first place?

Give it up people! It's only a friggin movie...not the Second Coming. I don't give a rat's ass how much Fox forked out for food services on the set...the trailer stinks and, given Burton's track record, the movie probably stinks too; unless your 14, whereupon your cinematic naivety will be tolerated.
