What are a few new songs that would work well on a soundtrack? Pick a scene and add the song.

    let's see...
I just thought of lots of death type songs for some reason, so all these songs would be for someone dying

"gone" by jessica riddle - this song has actually been used repeatedly in the show popular, it's a beautiful song that brings tears to my eyes. Her cd key of a minor, is a beautiful working of a teenager on a piano, more poppy than fiona apple with simpler melodies, but great to sing along to

"too slow to ride" by nina gordon - i'm partial to nina gordon and always will be, she's an amazing artist with a gorgeous voice, you know her from veruca salt, now check out her solo debut, tonight and the rest of my life

"mary" by fisher - man, this song makes me cry because it makes me think of my cousin who died. this is definitely the song to use when a child or teenager dies in a movie... the emotion that kathy fisher has in her voice blows me away. I adore the music she and her husband make, piano driven with an edge and the voice of an angel. the debut cd, true north, is one of few cds i can listen to all the way through without skipping any songs.

I’m having a tough time narrowing one particular scene down as I see quite a few movies each month. What I do know is that I always remember those ‘tear jerker’ scenes where someone is leaving or dying etc (how pleasant!). What always makes those scenes so powerful is the combination of great acting and a great song playing in the background. Right now the three songs that come to mind that I think would work well in these kinds of scenes are Sade’s ‘by your side’, Fisher’s song called ‘I will love you’ and Enya’s ‘when you’re gone’ (I think that’s what it’s called). What do other people think?

Well I would have to say that Dot Alison would be a good choice for soundtracks. Shes got some pretty well versed songs that would go well with many different kinds of scenes. Some of the songs may sound kind of upbeat but the lyrics would tell the real story.

Another choice would be Brooke Ramel. She has this cute little voice, that can get so big. Her music for the most part are these amazing love songs some ending happy some not so happy, but all still so beautiful in content.

My final choice would be the band Fisher. The lead singer's voice is so beautiful. They have some great songs for the love scenes. They also have some great songs for those heart break moments. They cover a wide veriety of feelings and emotions in their music and you could really find a song by them for almost any scene.

Too bad the lyrics are so important in all of these songs (by bands who won't sell soundtracks.... because of a lack of something?). Do all you new people know that songs are used in the movies for no more than 30 maximum seconds? So much for the real story in those great lyrics....

What do you think? I think this site has just been blitzed by the members of Fisher! D'oh.

Either that, or movie song CDs only tend to appeal to newbies, while the kind of person who will tend to stick around here appreciates scores more...

City of Angels Soundtrack will always be one of the best...every song was written wonderfully for the story.

I have to agree that "Mary" by Fisher would fit in well to a movie soundtrack. It is one of my favorite songs from the CD and the lyrics are really touching.

I know I'm not entirely on topic - but Highlander and Magnolia are two examples of songs working wondefully along with the scenes.

    Pulp Fiction is good too.

W.G. Snuffy Walden anyone? Or how about James Newton Howard? As far as songs go, I'd have to agree with the 'fishy' crowd. Fisher has some songs that would work great in films ("True North," "I Will Love You")...There's also this wonderful song by Paula Cole called "Carmen." Give that one a listen--it'll make you drool.

Ok, now how about Thomas Newman?

I thought Fisher only had two members? *evil grin* Anyway, It would really depend on the scene. Everyone seems to be mentioning sad scenes, in which case I have to agree with Fisher and add Dido or Sarah McLachlan. I can't seem to think of any 'happy' scenes from a movie which involved music. I'm sure there are a lot, but isn't it strange how only the sad scenes stick out in our minds?

I would have to say that 'Hello, It's Me' by Fisher is a good fit for some movie soundtrack. I can see where the main actor comes out and takes over the movie from that point. Great fit if you ask me!

There is a Cure song called "A Forest" that would be so perfect for some kind of mysterious, dark film.

The band Fisher has a song called "Hello It's Me" that would be great for some kind of coming of age story or a film about a girl finally getting recognized.

Heather Nova has a song called "Valley Of Sound" that would be great for some kind of soft love sequence.

Ok, so Kathy Fisher (of the band Fisher) decides to post as "Irishiz" at FilmTracks.com, FilmScoreMonthly.com, MovieMusic.com and God knows where else, asking what songs would be good in a movie scene.

Fisher, who had a little bit of success THREE YEARS AGO by having one of her songs placed on the Great Expectations soundtrack, isn't feeling the love any more, so she tells her LEGIONS of internet fans to recommend her music in the threads she just created at the aformentioned web sites. All these people flood in to recommend Fisher songs, and are never heard from again. Simon says? Morningsad (nice naming yourself after a Veruca Salt song)? Phil018? TrippingBilly666? BlackSwanSong? You ever gonna come back here? Probably not.

But, you had to register at MovieMusic.com, which sells all of its user info to the worst spammers on the planet.

    We love Fisher!

I hear Fisher's making a "comeback". Honestly. Our facist corporation has been promoting them on their putrid in-store "Buy this, MTV and/or VH1 says it's COOL!" CDs. Of all the horrible sh*t that's on this disc, Fisher is tops. My manager's playing the CD a lot, also.

Are members of Fisher actually posting here? That's wacky.

For the Tragic-Romantic films... (I think you know what I mean... think Romeo and Juliet and modern re-makes thereof)
#1 Ben Harper's "Walk Away" -- it's completely perfect. It's about how you want to be with someone that for whatever reason you can't be with just now.

Hello to all you Regular members!
First of all I'll tell you all I've met Kathy Fisher myself you couldn't met a nicer lady! All she's trying to do is get her music heard. It's hard to get a brake in music so yes as her friends and people who like her music what's wrong with finding these message boards like this one to help spread the word about her around. The Internet is a great tool to talk to people from all over the world. It's great to have the freedom to say hey here's this new singer I found check it out maybe you'll like it maybe you won't. If you had a friend of your's who you thought was a good singer and wanted to help them out so they could be heard wouldn't you help them too? I thought these board where so people could talk to each other not so you could make fun of people! Like the names what would you want people to uses as names there own! That's a good idea! There going to make one up. And for the spamming your either new on the net or to Dumb to have more than one E Mail address one for everyday E Mails from friends and the one you uses on postings like this one to send all your junk to! Also yes I'll come back here so I can watch to see if you post anything so I can make fun of it!!

i think you should be able to post what you want here. especially when it relates to the original topic posted. that's what message boards are for. at least the fisher people are getting everybody here to talk about it. i listen to fisher too and i think that they are a fantastic band. they are having a lot of success with their new album. i think that to say that a pop group can't fit well into a soundtrack is inaccurate. sometimes a song with lyrics (even if it does only play for 30 seconds) can really make a scene meaningful. instrumental soundtracks are wonderful, but popular music is just as valuable. don't cut fisher short just because there are a lot of fans here. That should tell you that they are even more worth your time. and besides, we're all in the same boat here - we love movies & we love music. so what's the problem?

Hey smig, all these new people (or are they just one person?) who've registered for these message boards to JUST post in this Fisher thread are nowhere near being in the same boat as the regulars in this message board.

If the "newbies" here are willing to take an active role in all of the other discussions on these boards, you're more than welcome to board our cruise ship. It's a big one, unlike the like the little Fisher dingy!

What do you say, eh? I'm placing all of my fortunes on the bet that none of the people in this thread will ever post here again, unless another Fisher thread comes up! It's obvious there is some kinda weird mission going on with you Fisher fans. We've been on these boards for a long time, and nothing quite as lame as this "propoganda"-type junk has ever shown up before.

If anything, you guys are giving Fisher a very bad name!
