Roomie introduced me to AC/DC's "If You Want Blood (You've Got It!)," which we agree is the ideal end title to the most violent, nihilistic and horrifying monster movie ever produced (and which we are now roughing out, although there's another script that has to get finished first.)Years ago I wrote a main title sequence inspired by Ry Cooder's "King of the Street" from TRESPASS. It would work just as well without that song, but I want that one specifically. Cooder's "Across The Borderline" also seems extremely appropriate for another project (a book adaptation), but it bothers me that the song already distinctly belongs to another movie (THE BORDER). Oh well, nobody stopped Spielberg from grabbing "When You Wish Upon A Star."
Roomie also introduced me to the bouncy, infectious "Kiss Them For Me" by Siouxsie and the Banshees. I think there's a whole story that could be built around that one, but am not sure I'm competent to write it. Oh, I could fake it, but it wouldn't be very good. We'll produce it, perhaps. For YEARS I've wanted to do a slow buildup to a barroom shootout, all to the tune of "Chiquitita" by ABBA. (Laugh if you must, but I think it'll work pretty well. The idea is that the guy they're gunning for has a lifelong obsession with ABBA. And no, *I* don't, although I do have a guilty soft spot for them.)
Mind you, I have no intention of being one of those record-collection directors like Tarantino, but the right song can be highly effective. "As Time Goes By" wasn't even written for CASABLANCA, y'know, it had existed for years beforehand.

Well, I came across the post, and it seems that some of the regulars are getting upset about all the Fisher posts, and I'm not really in a good place to speak because I'm a newbie here as well, but the topic is songs that would be great on a soundtrack...and Fisher does write songs that are great on Soundtracks and have gained some notoreity through it with their song being used for Ally McBeal and a song on the Great Expectations Soundtrack. My three favorite soundtracks are Velvet Goldmine, Stigmata and Fisher....Velvet Goldmine; well you can't go wrong with Michael Stipe, and the depiction of the glam rock era was excellent, Stigmata - take "The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell" from the club scene, and I don't think you could find a better song..then there's Great Expectations..this soundtrack made the movie for me. Fisher's "Breakable" Tori Amos with "Finn" and "Siren Song" Mono with "Life in Mono" the songs were amazing, the movie would have been less than such if it weren't for the song soundtrack. For talking about scores, there's better threads than this one, but my favorite score vote I must say does go to Somewhere in Time.Spuddy
