Do the people bidding on this know, that this score was released with 30 min more music, and better cover art and half the price??

Most probably do. They are probably bidding for the later value of it. After all, it is rare. I guess.

People at eBay even pay double prices for DVDs that are regularly available in every store. I don't complain - maybe I'll sell something at eBay myself in the future.

LOL. Doesn't the Mulan promo run for about 60 minutes? My copy is a combination of Promo and regular release, I think, but most of it is from the Promo.

Jeron's disc probably includes the an alternate or two and the long suite which was recorded especially for the album.

The Apollo 13 Promo runs about 59:00 min. Most of the Promos I've seen run the same length or longer that their official releases.

My Mulan runs 78 min as well with about 5 alternate cuts and no songs.

I think my copy has all the score from the film except the main title, plus all the songs except one. I assumed the suite was just cut & paste stuff?

NP: First Blood (Silvester Stallone is on the front cover, does that mean he wrote the score?)

Marian, here's my tracklisting... compare it.

    01) Overture
    02) Main Title
    03) Attack At The Wall - The Emporer
    04) Prayers - Grandma's Cricket
    05) The Matchmaker
    06) Homecoming
    07) Proclamation From The Emperor
    08) The Transformation - Mulan Leaves
    09) Awakening The Great Stone Dragon
    10) Master Plan
    11) Shan-Yu
    12) A Man's World
    13) Ping Introduces
    14) A New Day
    15) The Arrow
    16) The Doll
    17) Bogus Letter
    18) The Delivery
    19) Burnt Village - The General Is Dead
    20) Arrow Attack
    21) The Huns Attack
    22) Avalanche
    23) The Masquerade Is Over
    24) Confessions - Surviving Huns
    25) Victory Celebration
    26) Fireworks
    27) The Huns Intrude
    28) Concubines - Saving The Emperor
    29) Mushu To The Rescue
    30) Honoring Mulan
    31) Reunion
    32) End Credits
    33) Reprise
    34) The Emperor - Prayers (Alternate)
    35) Mulan's Transformation (Alternate)
    36) Confessions - To The Imperial City (Alternate)

The Overture is the Suite from the Disney Song/Score disc. Track 8 (Transformation) is the promo's "Short Hair" cue. The track titles on this one are stupid, but oh well. The End Credits are weird... I don't remember them from the movie. The Reprise at the end is another version of the Overture (Suite) - orchestrated differently. Sounds like it was recorded somewhere else. Who knows where it's from! Regardless, it's pretty neat.

    Anyway, that's that............

Hmm. Difficult to compare, some track titles are similar, some are different. In some cases I can guess that they refer to the same music (funny enough, your track The General Is Dead is called The Doll Survives on my album ), but although I have the DVD, I have only seen the film twice, so I can't remember everything.

What I do remember though is that aside from the main title music (which I'll rip from the DVD some day), I didn't miss any music when watching the film. Though now that I think of it, there may have been a bit of score during the end credits that's not on my disc...

Thanks for listing the titles. Are the alternates very different from the used cues?

Mulan's Transformation (Alternate) is the same track as found on the Disney Song/Score disc. On that cd, it's titled "Mulan's Decision." Instead of using pulsating electronics, it's a fully orchestral underscore - a bit more triumphant than what made it into the film. Has a different psychological effect. Both are great...

Seems like there are several versions of this.
Jeron, that can't be the real end credits, though. Just watched Mulan recently, and the pop version of Reflections fills the end credits, just like in any other Disney film. I doubt Goldsmith would even have written an end credits. Maybe somebody mixed you a suite?

Well here are the cues on mine:

    1. Suite from Mulan
    2. Main Titles
    3. Attack at the Wall/Preparation
    4. The Matchmaker
    5. Dishonor
    6. Mulan's Decision (Short Hair)
    7. One Chance
    8. The Master Plan
    9. Shan Yu
    10. Blossom/Truth All Around
    11. Shoulders Back/Avalanche
    12. Ping
    13. The Real Work
    14. Morning Assembly
    15. Deserted Village
    16. Bogus Letter
    17. Letter Delivered
    18. The Doll Survives/What's Wrong with Ping (aka The Burned Out Village)
    19. Save The Cannons
    20. The Huns Attack
    21. Imperial Palace
    22. The Imperial Palace
    23. Sword Snatcher
    24. Boo
    25. A Lucky Bug
    26. Gratitude
    27. The Pendant
    28. the Sword
    Alternate Takes
    29. The Matchmaker
    30. Short Hair #1
    31. Short Hair #2
    32. One Chance
    33. The Master Plan
    34. Ping
    35. Avalanche
    36. A lucky Bug

Whoever sequenced this Album used the cues off of the original Disney album in some cases which explains the out of sequence order on tracks 10 & 11 and then used the actual promo cues as alternates with the exception of a few that are actual alt cues.

John, I assure you the "End Credits" is no suite. And yeah, I had a BIG feeling it wasn't in the film. I think I would have remembered it (and trust me, you'll know what I'm talking about). This is like a completely different recording..... different orchestration..... viola or something solo. It's beautiful, but does NOT sound Goldsmith in style. It starts out with the theme and then gets REALLLLLY funky!! It's very strange.

    Jeron

    AMENDED 1 HOUR LATER:

Just found out that this version of the theme is performed by Vanessa-Mae, renowned fusion-techno violinist. Still, it's strange. And I guess that theme isn't by Goldsmith... it's by Mr. Zippel.

    My version:

    1. Honor To Us All (Song)
    2. Reflection (Song)
    3. Man Out of You (Song)
    4. A Girl Worth Fighting For (Song)
    5. True To Your Heart (Song)
    6. Attack At the Wall
    7. Preparation
    8. The Matchmaker
    9. Short Hair
    10. One Chance
    11. The Master Plan
    12. Shan Yu
    13. Blossoms
    14. Shoulders Back
    15. Ping
    16. The Real Work
    17. Morning Assembly
    18. Deserted Village
    19. Bogus Letter
    20. Letter Delivered
    21. The Doll Survives
    22. Save the Cannons
    23. The Huns Attack
    24. Avalanche
    25. What's Wrong With Ping
    26. Truth All Around
    27. The Imperial Palace
    29. Sword Snatcher
    30. Boo
    31. A Lucky Bug
    32. Gratitude
    33. The Pendandt
    34. The Sword
    35. Reflection (End Credits) (Song)

That alternate Short Hair must be interesting, though I can't imagine it being powerful than the superb version used in the film.

Jeron, I strongly believe that the Vanessa Mae piece is used in the film's end credits. I thought about a solo violin before you even posted your message. If I don't forget, I'll check it on the DVD later this evening.

Weird. I checked the DVD - the Vanessa Mae cue is NOT played during the end credits, and it is NOT used during the "Reflection" scene, either. But I'm sure I've heard it before.
