Okay, I've heard of it before, it's not exactly a new release, but I found this website completely by accident, and I had no idea how GOOD it looked!

    http://www.gr8music.com/Karlin,_Fred/Masters.html

Anybody else have this? Is it even for sale anymore? It's crowding four years old ... but MAN do I want this!

Along the same lines, does anyone have, or have seen, the Goldsmith-related 1973 documentary THE SCORE?

Yes, I have it - due, in part, to some posts on this board last summer. It's expensive, ~$108. It's also more than satisfying. Nice book with much of the text of the documentary, a ... "cue sheet" (?) for The River Wild documenting the scoring sessions, some stills and the documentary. Wanna finally see The Beam? Or the metal rods used to accompany Carol Anne speaking to the TV in Poltergeist? Wanna see some of the names we associate with Mr. Goldsmith, to say nothing of him both at work and home?

All there, and quite int'resting... probably even if one has but a passing int'rest in Goldsmith, but a good int'rest in film music.

What you do is email Fred Karlin at (last summer, anyway):

    Megnfred@aol.com

He'll probably give you a fax # or something to actually order the thing. Be sure to get that, because I remember initially having the wrong one somehow (the website maybe? I don't know for sure, but I did). Also, he can confirm if he has any left. When I checked last July, he sent this reply:

    quote:
I received a fax with your inquiry regarding my Goldsmith documentary. I have two or three units remaining for sale, and you are welcome to purchase one of these if you wish. If so, please send me your money order made out to Fred Karlin in the amount of $108.95, to the following address... blah-blah-blah... When received, I'll inform my shipper in Oregon to send one on to you. Please e-mail me your shipping address (it will be sent UPS ground, so I'll need a street address). Thanks for your inerest, Fred Karlin

    (blah's mine)

Like I say, that was a while ago, so do check in first if you're int'rested, and if you are, I do recommend the package.

...oh yeah...it's really, really good. (The book I mean, which leads me to believe the video is as well. But then again, the books are usually better than the film...yet, this is not a movie really,is it? Yeah, it's 6:52 in the morning and I am up and ready to go to work and listening to Dennis the Menace by Jerry Goldsmith. So, I just stop rembling and get the heck outta here...)

    NP: Ehm...just read the post.

Congratulations for being (or at least seeming to be) so happy at 6:52 in the morning...

It's too bad it's no longer available, Rocco. Give this a read:

    quote:
    E-mail from Fred Karlin:

    Jeron,

I'm sorry to tell you that there are no more copies of Film Music Masters: Jerry Goldsmith available for sale in the Limited Collector's Edition package. I may eventually release a DVD and video version with straightforward packaging, no book included, and so on. If I do so, the usual film music journals will mention this, and I would most likely place ads as well.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Warmest good wishes,
    Fred Karlin

I have the video (thanks Rich Nelson!). Just wanted the extra stuff. Doh!

    Moo, Moo, Moo!!

Would be VERY nice to get a DVD of this. Think of all the extra crap he wouldn't be able to afford to put on!
