The Pearl Harbor trailer has been officially released (this is the trailer than ran in Nov. with Zimmer's TTRL as temp).

The trailer has been re-temped with new music which must have been written by Hans (based on the sound of it). The theme is simply astounding (quite similiar to TTRL in a way)! I hope this is what the score will sound like.

    Have a look & listen...

I want to cry... It's just so... beautiful =) ... Freaking fantastic music, but are you sure it is from the film itself??? I hope so... It would go so well with the entire bombing scene... I simply cannot speak highly enough about Zimmer... He's definately at the top of his game... I'm also 100% sure now that Zimmer's score will be MUCH better than Horner's lame attempt with Enemy at the Gates.

Sounds to me like someone had a little fun with The Crow and Gladiator, myself.

You guys are jumping the gun. Hold all your horsies. I'm almost 100% positive Zimmer didn't score the portion after "The Crow" segment. I'll get back to all of you on this...

I'm kind of curious as where the music is from. It's one hell of a theme.

Well I do hear the crow in the opening, but I don't quite make the Gladiator connection. I would not be suprised if this is the main theme, since it was obvious from the moment the first teaser was released that Bay was looking for music in the vein of TTRL.

In the end, a fantastic theme...lets hope it pans out.

BTW...www.darkhorizons.com has the trailer available for download, rather than streaming.

I'm not positive, but this new music sounds like the track I listened to that Jim Dooley (Zimmer's assistant) had written for a PEARL HARBOR trailer....

Hehe, its kinda funny how you worded that.
If he wrote it for the Pearl Habor trailer, then it must be from the Pearl Harbor trailer!

Anyway they did the samething with Romeo Must Die, the theater release of the trailer had Plunkett & McLeane, and when it came on the net it was simular but different music.

Alright... here I am, getting back to you. Just spent the past hour speaking with Steve Jablonsky, who did in fact compose the music heard in the trailer on the website. The theme is not from PH - and will not be used in PH. It was just a piece of music Steve composed for the trailer. He took the opportunity to be creative with it, and that's what we got.

There it is! Hope no one is too terribly disappointed. If anything, start shouting Steve's name, keep your fingers crossed, and hope he gets a film of his own to score in the future.

Does he still own the music? Like could he make it availible to download?

If I have all this right, none of the composers have any rights to their music unless they have it copyrighted to them or something like that. Since it's in a Buena Vista trailer, it is Buena Vista's. Now, they got rights to borrow the Crow from a different record company. But no, he can't release it because copyrights are dumb!

Well I asked becuase once I was chatting with a composer through emails, and then he turned around and asked me if I wanted a copy of his score. He said that he owned it and could do so.

Bummer...I still don't understand why they even retemped it the first place...I've never see music work so well in a trailer before...TTRL shines on!

LOL... well, if ya want the honest truth - in my discussions, I've gotten the general feeling that no one at MV quite liked using TTRL in the trailer. They were happy to replace it. Using TTRL was actually a call made by the producer and/or director.

Why exactly wouldn't they be pleased about it being used in the trailer...considering how few people actually saw TTRL, let alone anyone who (outside of our community) had actually heard the music before the trailer.

I'd think they would appreciate the exposure of such a cool piece of music.

Oh well, it's a small matter...

After watching both trailers (I think they are identicle music aside), I can honestly say that the new one is much better. The Crow segment fits well, but the new piece simply goes with the images better than the Journey to the Line piece... It just seems like a more devistating piece to me given the scene that it applies to... I'm not sure how to put it, but don't get me wrong... Journey to the Line is one of my favorite pieces of music ever written for a film, so I mean it when I say that this new piece goes better!
