THE STRIPPER/NICK QUARRY (Jerry Goldsmith, FSM) just came in today. MUCH better sound than the bootleg, although the boot also has Goldsmith's TRAVELING EXECUTIONER, so I think I'll be hanging onto it.

JOHN WILLIAMS SPACETACULARS -- his Boston Pops covers of his own STAR WARS, CE3K and E.T. concert versions, plus two covers of Goldsmith, one decent (ALIEN) and one appalling (STAR TREK - TMP). And a nice version of Courage's original STAR TREK theme. And "Also Sprach Zarathustra." All this on one disc, for two bucks! Lucky me.

THE OMEN DVD COLLECTION. Just watched Goldsmith's comments on four of the scenes from the first one.

A bit earlier: PASSION IN THE DESERT (Jose Nieto) and KIKUJIRO (Joe Hisaishi), both very nice.

Unfortunately, I have yet to listen to it. Since there are other discs I am currently listening to for my web site. Once those are done, I'll get around to listening to it.

Otherwise, if you are interested, I'd suggest taking a look at filmtracks, they have a review of it.

Don't mock, this was a present:

THE CULT FILES BIG BOX (4 CDs, Silva re-recordings mostly).

Hit and miss of course, with the old jazzy TV themes perhaps coming off best. Some of the selections however are so awful that they exert a strange fascination. Dudley Simpson's Blake's 7 was quite mind-bogglingly bad to start with, but Mark Ayres' version has to be heard to be believed. At least it's hilariously entertaining, unlike such garbage as "The Chase" from Midnight Express, which is just maddening and no fun at all. As I said, the jazzy stuff is best, and it was nice to here gems like The Streets Of San Francisco and Ironside, both well done.
